Finally, here is my comparison chart insulators. (Promised a long time ago to Christopher on another thread) It compares my price I got for various insulation with equivalent thermal resistance !!

This is the result of the small market study that I realized in October 2006, prior to the isolation of my attic (Region of Liège, Belgium.). And we feel really, this insulation, even if it is only a beginning.



On reflection, I'm not quite on the price of extruded PS (polystyrene foam), I had to make a note of decision error, it seems low to me. And I feel a little silly to have left 4 decimals in an excel formula

This table only talks about the insulation against the cold while now the biggest problem will be the insulation against the heat.
The glass wool lobby is very powerful.

I have nothing against hemp wool, lime and hemp (I have some) but I think that the best sustainability and quality price ratio today is not in these so-called natural insulators.

Glass wool or rock wool is the biggest scam in the housing industry.
In fact, man is much less afraid of the cold than the hot.
Some people keep telling you about lambda, R = 6 or arreuh = mc2 to talk to you about insulation.

Go and live on the upper floors of all houses insulated with glass wool in late spring, summer or early fall. Impossible ; you have to put the air conditioning (= energy consumption, put the fan, close the shutters etc ...). The energy saved in winter is spent in summer. Bravo the calculation.

Me I would like to know of all these end lambda calculators that of glass wool in terms of insulation against heat. It is probably minus 100.

None of these lambda calculators has ever bivouacked in the high mountains by minus 25 or minus thirty; to bivouac means to sleep under the stars.

Well here is how to do it:

Dig a space 20 to 40 cm deep in the snow (it's for the wind)
Put your clothes and shoes in the down (that's for the gel)
Lay a survival blanket flat (thin sheet of aluminum in fact) (this is to insulate yourself from the cold - I would point out that you don't carry around with a glass wool roller)
Lay a square mat (that's for comfort)
And sleep very well in his down

The issue of insulation affects just as much, see more in the future with global warming (which will cause longer hot periods and colder cold periods) the question of insulating yourself from cold than from heat.
