The price of a 13 kg butane gas bottle on average is €37,56 (June 2023)
I just paid 41 euros for my top-up.

Wow!

It's not the same thing anymore! We then approach 20/24 c€/kWh th. Should be able to compare with propane...

There is therefore only city gas which is frankly much cheaper, as well as PV self-consumption, at midday.

It just goes to show that the eco-friendly people in city centers who only swear by induction hobs are going to ruin us all, the French who love to eat well...
The same goes for the outlying neighborhoods, the suburbs which have almost all remained on gas bottles...

All that is missing is a fossil carbon tax in 2027...

This could become the Yellow Apron Rebellion!

21 liters 13kg... Leclerc, the ladies' city. 0.919 per liter or 19€30. Available 24/24 at the machine

And as long as you are at the gas station.... A small can of ADblue will allow you to weed your paths and more if you like...For cheap amonium hydroxide and Urea... since glyphosate does not is no longer over the counter : Cheesy:

Technically, no doubt. But I don't think that's allowed?

Yes you can go to prison for that theoretically.
You do this 100m after the border and the planet thanks you and so does your wallet (that's what goes into the torches burning in the open air).
Then there is a problem. These are 13kg butane OR propane bottles.
And LPG is approximately a 50/50% mixture.
Butane or propane regulators have a slightly different flow rate. From memory 23 grams but there is little difference, so one OR the other is kif-kif

PS: Methane, propane, butane: a different chemical structure
Methane is made up of 4 hydrogen atoms bonded to 1 carbon atom. Propane is made up of 3 carbon atoms and 8 hydrogen atoms. Butane is made up of 4 carbon atoms and 10 hydrogen atoms.

The wallet certainly, “the planet” I don’t see.
The PCI of butane and propane are actually very little different, it should not be a big problem even if the composition varies around 50/50.

If we can recover what is lost, it’s a win.
Otherwise it's global warming for free. For methane, that's for sure. For butane/propane it is less safe.

On the other hand, methane in a bottle is like hydrogen, it is almost incompressible as a liquid.
