Your city in 3D in the yellow pages?

I was pleasantly surprised by the initiative of the Post Office to model in 3D the big cities of France and Spain!

Frankly it throws especially for monuments and buildings :)

Obviously the textures and the models are not yet perfect but for a first draft it's really nice to virtually visit complete cities.

If people living in these cities could tell us to what extent it matches reality (screenshot and comparative real photo for example?) It would be good :)

On the other hand, it oars "a bit" (euphemism ...)

Much better than a city in "3D": Google Street View, now available for 30 French cities:

PARIS (Reuters) - Google has extended its Street View internet service to thirty new French cities, which offers a 360 ° view of the streets at human height.

Internet users will now be able to walk virtually in the arteries of Rennes, Strasbourg or even Montpellier. This functionality of Google Maps was launched in October 2008 in six French cities, including Paris, Lyon and Marseille.

Faced with controversies related to the protection of privacy, the internet giant had at the same time implemented a technology to blur faces and license plates. In addition, a user can ask Google to delete pictures by clicking on a link.

Street View was also launched Thursday in Britain, where the feature is available for 25 cities including London, Belfast and Edinburgh.

The streets of San Francisco were the first to be photographed from all angles. Street View, launched in May 2007, is now available in around XNUMX cities in nine countries.

To see what it looks like: go to Google Map http://maps.google.fr/ type an address of a big city and click on the yellow man at the top left of the map and "drag and drop" where you want!

It's bluish!
