It's been decades since I dropped out of the world of RC. At the time there were 2 worlds, that of the homemade and that of the guy who wants to drive but who does not have the time or does not know how to build ... and who has the means.

Structural weakness said Christophe? No doubt here, but a pilot should know that a full control clearance can break his airframe, even more when he built it.

The maneuver seemed to me not very constraining in terms of g and efforts ...

An airplane must not destroy itself under these conditions without prior defect ... in short it is not very important ...

Well yes, the constraints on the airframe can be dramatic, this is why the flight manual of an airplane (ech 1: 1) specifies the maximum speeds for certain commands, that the limit deflections of the control surfaces are introduced in the electric flight controls for "joystick" pilots.

In the race for lightness, it may also be that the manufacturer was a little too confident in the components to compensate for a slightly weak power reactor. I have the impression, compared to other toys, that his Saab was rowing a lot.

Yes I know taam well but the conditions of this flight were far from extreme ... no overspeed no exit from a difficult maneuver ...

I just think that a structural element has broken ... because weakened ... or original defect ...

This plane was a unique specimen in the world ...

Maybe ... should be compared to other 1/2 scale reaction RC

Those, smaller are 110Kg (10 more than the Saab) and look much better motorized (2 reactors):
