Extract of ForMaPlanète.com :
Small daily actions can save a lot of energy. Do your internet research on blackle is the perfect example. The search screen is the same as Goggle, except that the wallpaper is black and thus saves energy because it requires less electricity than a white or light-colored screen.
Even though Heap Media, the creator of this page, is aware of the "small" ecological gesture that this constitutes, "the energy savings are small, but they all add up."
The idea came out of a blog in January where a surfer calculated that such a search site could save 750 mega-watt hours a year. Still that's right?
The site also contains information about saving energy on a daily basis!
In addition, icing on the cake, this dark screen fatigue less eyes!
What do you think ?
Google pollutes?

Actually it's amazing.
The problem: does not it risk giving the roach a black screen .... and is it really good for the eyes? I think so, but for the moral it's rather orange that I think I need?

After careful consideration...
I think this fact to use more energy with a blank screen is only valid for cathode ray tubes. Indeed today all the rants that come out in the trade are equipped LCD. But this technology requires a lot less energy than the electron beam of our good old screens that hurt the eyes. I think white consumes much the same thing as black ...
but to try after all? All the old screens are not dead yet ...

I don't know anything about it, but I thought I had read that LCD screens consume a lot ("What to Choose" test) and especially more than cathodics.
Who can answer this question with certainty?

We had already mentioned the subject.
I tried with 2 LCD and a PM and I saw strictly no difference in consumption between an all-white page and a black page ...
There are even some topics about consumption of pc screens and the power consumption of your pc

I think you answer my proposal denis?
If so I thought I'd put the "background" in black (or darker at least), while leaving the text parts unchanged.
It would also highlight the text (contrast) ... well I think ...
