I agree with the fact that the reasons and motivations of individuals are complex (otherwise it would not be fun!). It was just a nod to those who say they are opposed to everything that touches religion, directly or indirectly, and yet who bathe in it daily without questioning this daily bath. One more contradiction of human nature.

It goes without saying too. Most of the great minds came from a religious background (almost the only one, for that matter) and human psychology is part of the philosophy reserved for an elite exploiting the ignorance of the masses.
