FTP server for files econology!

by Christophe » 09/01/06, 16:02

My former host has just made available to its customers an anonymous and public FTP server. It is therefore a preview of the semi-public FTP server that we will put in place for the members of the forum, history that you get familiar with using an FTP

You can put all the files you want (as long as they remain legal) without any size limitations.

Use an FTP client because the port is not 21 but 20 for security reasons.

Connection information:

Hote: This Server no longer works
Port: 20
Login: anonymous

So that it does not become an unnamed brothel, please put your files in the directory / econology (at the root) that I created in which you will create a subdirectory with your nickname.

Attention once uppé you will no longer be able to erase the files of this FTP.

Will it be possible to erase a problem file?
It can be a little messy and I have to resume
Many times .

It prevents that it will be practical to have room as
Ca to put files there. :P

It may be necessary to create a html page listing the inventory
Files, it will make it possible to verify that the
Server is not squat a linsu d a member ds its space.
At the security level, it will be necessary to prevent the creation of
Files by persons other than a dignified person
Confidence. The warez on a foolish tendency to multiply
Folders before installing their files on a squate server.

No we will have no access to files.

So you do not deceive when you uper ... otherwise everyone (visitor econo + other sites hosted at the host) will have access to your files or folders.

For warrez against it is well secured I think no worries.

Thank you is great! :D
It means that I can put my uncompressed videos to have a better quality without eating space on my hosts. For now I do not need but it can come.

Euh not understood uncompressed it is quickly say ... should not too abused when even and think of people who will upload your videos later .... By cons files a few tens of MB no worry.

On the other hand, attention, as I said, is a temporary FTP (in other words: that I do not control and that can close overnight) while waiting for the true public FTP of econo (that I would control)

No, I'm stupid ... I understood everything by the fly :D :D :D
It's an FTP to put documents on the forum. It's not to put our documents online for our personal site. Anyway I film in Mpeg 4 and I compress to make a small video editing. The last one I put on my post is 6 MO and the quality is not too bad even when doing a full screen. I would not dare put a video of 700MO for 30min of images in MPEG.

I forgot an important point, explain to you how to use an ftp to those who do not know ...

1) putting files

So here you need a specific program (named FTP Client), here is a free 100% http://www.framasoft.net/article1011.html

To know how to use it: http://www.framasoft.net/article1941.html or directly: http://www.framasoft.net/IMG/pdf/FileZilla-2.pdf

2) recover files

For the access address, there are apparently no (this is why the FTP is on the port 20 and not 21) or then possible by tweaking the config of your browser but frankly not worth it.

So to retrieve a file, you have to give the address and the directory of this public FTP and that you use FileZilla in download.

Ps: this will not be the case with the FTP of the dedicated server that will be mounted, which will be accessible to it via the net.
