Christophe wrote:It's only been 24 hours but the "big" (2 years old in August 2008 and neutered) continues to growl and spit (I don't know the exact words for a cat ??) as soon as he sees the little one.

In fact I believe that the big one is much more afraid than the small one. :|
But for the moment he has not attacked only growled ...

kk1 would have tips and tricks to calm (a little) the situation or improve the meeting?

This is normal behavior, not general, some cats are very cool with the little ones, well a little lick on the head and they accept that the little one sleeps next to them, but no more, must not be pushed either. . : Evil: : Cheesy:

Yes it is undoubtedly a fear of the unknown, but sometimes also jealousy.

the location of the presentation was poorly chosen ....
cats are territorial animals, the most suitable place would have been a neutral place ...
there you impose a newcomer on the territory of the old one ...

Good after 3 days, it gets better "a little" ... but the big one is still growling and flees the little one...

Astonishing this sentence from the link above:

according to some veterinarians, it would be easier when you already have an adult cat, to welcome another adult cat rather than a kitten.

Well that's settled ... here's how it happened.

After more than 3 weeks of "fighting", we put the kitten in the transport crate in the middle of the living room and we let the cat sniff up close (and even kick the cage) /

We did this 2 or 3 times for about 1 hour and after 48 hours it was completely resolved: the little one was accepted.

The 2 now play together like crazy, the big one even learns to hunt from the little one ...

I don't know if applying this method before 3 weeks would have speeded things up, I guess so because the change was drastic and very fast!

To test therefore! Notice to amateurs!

Olive trees attract cats ... who knows why, my in-laws have three cats and they all go regularly scratching or even lie down on the olive trees in the gardens (century-old olive trees)
