Airshow: A Luxembourg Air Show in Bitburg Germany

by Christophe » 22/02/08, 19:11

Much to do with econology but it's Gegyx's fault with his video of the Patrouille de France which brought old childhood dreams to the "surface". And then since there are a few of us who love zavions ...

So I searched a little and I found an air show that seems really good: http://www.airshow.lu/participants.php especially at the old planes level ...

What do the specialists think? A meeting point for amateur ecologists of the sky?

ps: I never thought a Me262 was flying again!

Edit: see the airshow meeting pictures

Uh I cheated, despite the appearance of the Bitburg site is in Germany in fact (40km luxembourg).

I advise anyone interested in visiting the links ... there is something amazing.

Like this a FW 190 propeller put **, especially for André:

Ah the FW 190: for me the best and most beautiful German WWII fighter plane! A formidable opponent, especially the D9 ...
The Me 262 is a reconstruction (100% nine), the reactors are not the originals (it would be suicidal ...) but modern push close (I do not remember the type) ...
We are still waiting for a wealthy French fanatic (...) to finance the reconstruction of a Dewoitine 520 or the incredible Bloch 157 which had ~ the performance of a FW190 D9 ... almost 2 years before this last ... (a little bit better than a Mustang P51D which was the most common type ...)

This is exactly what I was saying to delnoram in chat a few minutes ago and for that I have looked at this site first ... Only the Hellcat was superior no?

Ok it reassures me since the life of the engine was 25h I think :) From where my astonishment!

Yes, but all too rare ... well, I do not know what that is ... so you come to this meeting?

If not, do you know the IL2 Sturmovik simulation? It dates from 2001 but it still refers ... Some screens: http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/screenshots.php

Hello
Some models in flight state

the Bf 109 does not fly anymore it had a landing gear problem it was the last in original flight ..
Despite the large amount of planes built the vanquished are scrapped
Mustang Spits are still in circulation but Zero and BF109 rather rare, war is a bad thing, but history, technology, and museums is something else.
I have a legion of pictures of planes but we are not on the forum for that..
To answer your question about the M262 in flight condition, the problem is that the original turbine had a very short life less than 30hours, the Bf109 Benz less than 200hours (which anyway comes back in life) of a fighter jet before they got off the ground. RR Merlin's Spit engine had a longer lifespan.

Once again André, you excel in your knowledge.
