One thing bothers me in this article:
The 2006 American harvest was poor, due to a decrease in cultivated areas
and at a lower yield.

North Americans are the champions of GM corn, right? So where are the productivist miracles announced by Monsanto and his followers?

This is because you misunderstood, when Montsanto talks about profitability, it is not for the farmers who buy its seeds (*), it is for its shareholders. : Evil:

(*) If not, why insert in the contracts which bind the farmers to this firm the prohibition to attack MontSanto in justice if the promised results are not there?

Well seen crispus, well seen Targol. You should know what caused this drop in yield. We have seen in Argentina the adaptation of nasty weeds to the GMO soybean / roundup couple, resulting in an ever more powerful round up treatment to have the same yield. Is it the same for GMO corn or is it not the subject of round-up treatments, or the ugly little cellulose-eating beasts have they adapted to the GMO organism, or it did not rain enough, .... etc. If anyone knows + ....

Biofuels: the ethanol development objective "not achievable" according to the Court of Auditors

10 Feb 2016

The objective that France has set for the development of gasoline containing ethanol "does not seem achievable in the short and medium term", ruled Wednesday the Court of Auditors, which recommends stronger tax incentives .

While noting the "undeniable progress" made to meet the objectives of incorporating biofuels (biodiesel and ethanol) in conventional fuels since its previous report on the subject in 2011, the Court considers in its annual report that it is still necessary " develop some of the support instruments ", especially for gasoline.

France wants to achieve by 2020 an incorporation rate of 7% for ethanol mixed with gasoline and 7,7% for biodiesel mixed with diesel, the first fuel sold in France. If the target for biodiesel was reached in 2013, France is still struggling to meet its ambition in ethanol, whose incorporation rate barely exceeded 6% at the end of 2014, "penalized by insufficient distribution", according to the Court of Audit.
