From memory when we distilled in the lab with my friend. We had applied the T° rise curves of classic hydrocarbons which were fairly gentle heating. We did not have a condenser at negative T° (we could just fill it with ice) so we still had a good fraction of gases which were blocked from the atmosphere at the start of the distillation. Then we had two choices: either to separate the different condensates in FCT of the evolution of the condenser T° or to distill everything at once with the condenser T° which rose gradually then do a 2nd distillation or we worked in such a way to release 2 or three products: a "gasoline" with a 0° flashpoint (our gasoline was not great but it still worked (tried in a chainsaw) a "Kero" cup and a third diesel...

We had the same experiences with frying oils, it did it too, some do it with waste oils, it's even easier...

The easiest plastics to distill are Plystyrene, HDPE, and ABS. PVC doesn't work and PET gave us strange reactions in the still... It was emulsified and clogged everything...

I have often said that plastic materials deserve the development of thermolysis and/or distillation to extract liquid fractions (petrol/diesel) and valorize light gases in some way, because they are close molecules. fuels.

See what the “gas-producing” vehicles looked like

There is (much) more energy in the CH connections than in the CC connections...the gasifier burned CO...a very poor gas...
It took 100 kg of wood for 100 kg...

In other words, going with a resource that contains H (like plastic) is better.

Otherwise, I'm not sure that gasifiers were tolerated long after the war... It was a crisis solution (ah, aren't we in crisis?)...
