Construction of a Chicken Coop - Photo Construction Idea

View Jardinierbricoleur » 27/01/15, 20:17

Hello friends,

I built a chicken coop with recycled materials.

All to have eggs and I have manure to enrich my vegetable garden.

For the construction itself, I don't really have any advice other than that the hens are content with not much, but we have to make them a completely sheltered corner so I would see something like a hut in addition to the small closed courtyard, for a dozen hens you need roughly 1m / 1,5m wide, a small closet what (just for sleeping) with shelves, straw to install nests and there all you have to do is open the door to collect the eggs! a good article to read: mistakes to avoid when manufacturing a domestic chicken coop.

I seem to have already seen some links on econology which refer to this chicken coop construction!
Would it be for sale? ...

Perhaps it is the perch of rebound towards the site more provided, and which gives besides much more complete information on the breeding of the hens. : Mrgreen:

Here, I too take this opportunity to present my chicken coop (which I believe I have already presented on econology ...):

Hello
I went there, then we temporarily dropped the case because too much work in the house.

We had a closed and covered courtyard of 6m2 with a small cabin of 1.2M x 0.8M, for 5-6 hens.

The cabin: The front facade is a large door with a hatch to let the hens in and out, we open the large door for cleaning, another small door on the side to collect the eggs. 2 bars for the hens to perch at night and boxes with straw for laying. And on the ground hay sawdust recovered from the cuts of wood.
The door: closed at night and open every morning (my neighbor had fitted his door with a motor with twilight sensor for automatic opening and closing.

The courtyard: covered and closed. Watch out for buzzards, foxes and martens. That is why the cabin hatch is closed every night.
With us it is very important to lock up the hens at night because of the foxes and martens.

The hens line the soil very quickly with droppings, and when it rains it is frankly disgusting if the yard is not covered. In addition, chickens do not like having wet feet.

Plan to be able to enter with a wheelbarrow when cleaning.

Food, grain and all the rest. And then there the eggs, yum !!

Good breeding.
