Fact already mentioned in the subject dedicated to the coronavirus ... in addition to the spectacular drop in CO2 ... estimated for the moment at -25% over the month of January ...
Will a virus do better than all environmental policies? I have no doubt about it ...
awaits the recovery of their economy and overtime "to catch up and the pollution rate will explode. Result: just a little temporary respite

You're most certainly right ... unless ... unless ... the crisis lasts long enough to open our eyes?

which proves that despite all the talk and the hype, nobody really thinks that CR is a big problem, otherwise, a long time ago that we would have imposed the same measures as for the coronavirus, not against contagion, but to avoid polluting! : Lol: : Lol:

Who is "person"? : Cheesy:

Imposing the same measures as for the coronavirus in the fight against global warming would pass ... for a green dictatorship ... intolerable for most people!

"Individual health is far more important than the 'collective health' of the planet ..."

So we can accept for ourselves what we cannot accept for the collective.

I do not know if it is very well said but I think you understand the idea!

yet we accept them for coronavirus, so it's not that intolerable as that ... !!

I explained why in the second part of my message ... right?

Death which is an individual risk is more fearful than global warming which is a collective risk ...

Can we develop if you want? But in a new subject where I leave you the choice of the title!

what is a collective risk that would not translate into an individual risk? just a fiction! (that's precisely why we don't do anything serious to protect ourselves, we just talk about it on all TV, radio and internet platforms, and give conferences that are useless other than lathering politics).

If not to return to pollution, it would be interesting to compare the estimates of the number of deaths saved by the reduction in pollution with that caused by the coronavirus!

I agree with you!

We should be more afraid of the millions of deaths to come due to CR than of the coronavirus! But man is like that: he generally can only act in an emergency!

And I am not "nobody" to answer your first remark! : Cheesy:

Easy Monsignor! But here we are talking more about CR but of local pollution ... local pollution is more deadly than CR ... for the moment!

So act:

How many (premature) deaths are estimated in China per year due to pollution? Suppose that these deaths are reduced in the same way as pollution (false because these 2 quantities are not linear but we will assume it for simplicity, some clues here: https://www.econologie.com/cout-medico- ... n-urbaine/ ) ...

Réponse: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Environnement_en_Chine

Premature death

Pollution is also the cause of many cancers, cardiovascular and respiratory problems. The estimate of the number of premature deaths in China due to pollution has varied over time and according to the authors and the data analyzed60:

in 2007, a World Bank report on pollution reported 750 premature deaths per year in China000, including 3 due to air pollution656;
WHO has calculated that air pollution would cause the premature death of 300 people a year, and the poor quality of indoor air 420. These figures were revised upwards by this organization in 000. For the year 2014, it figures the mortality linked to air pollution at 2012 million people in Southeast Asia (for a global total of 2,3 million deaths), including about 7 million deaths related to air pollution and 0,9 to indoor air pollution1,7;
in 2010, Chinese air pollution caused nearly 1,2 million premature deaths, according to a report by the Healt Effect Institute (Chinese public health specialists) published in the British medical journal The Lancet in 2012;
350 to 000 people die prematurely from air pollution in China each year, according to the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. In the same review, the same year, the global figure of 500 million premature deaths per year linked to poor air quality is put forward by Dr. Jeffrey Koplan, of Emory University in Atlanta

We are going to start on the most favorable hypothesis for the coronavirus: 300 deaths per year ... or 000 per month ...

We will assume the decline in mortality from the coronavirus to 80% ... or 20 per month of premature death "avoided" thanks to the coronavirus ...

In China, the coronavirus killed around 3000 people there in 2 months ...

Monthly report: 20 / 000 = 1500 ...

The Coronavirus has therefore made it possible to divide AT LEAST 13.3 times the number of pollution-related deaths in China ...

And more directly: air pollution in China kills at least 25 / 000 = 1500 times more than the Coronavirus ...

A factor of 13 or 17 (in statistics we speak of 1300% or 1700% ...) this is called a technical knockout!

And this is certainly the tragedy of our system: we accept the dead of the system that we control but not those that we do not control ...

yapuka redo the calculation for the RC for which ... no figure is known if I'm not mistaken !! : Lol:
