I think I found the real reason for adding this rod across the discharge chute: its objective is to prevent sticking the arm to come to settle, it is a security! Indeed, it is possible to touch * the rotor with your hand due to the front opening of the ejection tube ...

* I speak at engine stop et rotor (don't forget inertia) when it comes to experimentation! : Mrgreen:

Yes it is possible in the end. Without this bar, the hand would pass.

Yes : Lol:
It is with the inertia of the rotor that I "hurt".
Everything was obviously at a standstill and by wanting to clear by hand, as the debris was getting stuck, I "threw" the rotor a little to loosen the hard point and my fingers were finally found between the blade and the frame.
I was the one who provided the energy for a short run and that was enough to cut my finger through a light glove.
It was more the pinching on 2 fingers which was painful.
Even asleep the beast remains dangerous! : Lol:

Yeah!
And a welded plate to extend the conduit, would not have been more judicious?

The ejection duct cannot be extended too much, both for reasons of space, but above all for expulsive capacity: the concern is the long and thin strands which usually cause blockages and which do not have much inertia due to their low mass; the real shavings are much more fluid and quick ...
It is for this reason that the duct is open towards the front.

Yes, but what I meant was:
If a welded plate had extended the conduit only to the welded rod, there would have been no problem of wrong way.

The fine stems being driven with the rest, in the duct ...

It is still not very clear to me.
Just a plate that "channels", instead of the fireplace?

Try to get your hands on it (valid) to see if you touch the rotor?

I guess it should read rather:
If a welded plate had extended the conduit only up to the level of the current welded rod ...

It's a bit clearer, maybe ...

So much the better, that's what I understood! 8)
It should not be forgotten, however, that too allusive text is not necessarily very clear to the reader.
