A field mouse is not that big, I was wrong. That's 2 or 3 voles per year. Big rodents what ... body of 20 cm ...
On the other hand it was maybe well a field mouse who challenged the cat in my living room, I know that mice can dance but not if they jump!

One does not prevent the other...hunting for a cat is a pleasure before being a need... well it reminds me of another species!
On the other hand, when they are in shortage of kibble and they are hungry, I see more rodent residues in front of my door.
That's when I know I have to give them food again (bowl in the garage ... and I don't go there every day) ... hey I'm kidding that doesn't happen often!

Anthropomorphism. The cat is a predator, it hunts by instinctive irrepressible attraction and to empty itself of its tensions, it is an anti-stress. Sometimes by game, but what is the game? A way to keep your form and your senses sharp as well as to perfect your dexterity.

Absolutely ... sorry I forgot to specify "domestic cat" ... because there are still wild cats ...

It's the same, the cat is not strictly speaking a domestic animal, it is tamed, but not domesticated.
Doubt is allowed. While cats have lived among us for nearly ten thousand years and are the world's most popular pets, experts are divided on the idea that they really are pets. Our feline companions don't really need us after all - they are able to hunt for food and return to the wild when they are no longer in contact with humans. A scientific article published last year revealing some of the first genes responsible for domestication — all of them present in the cat's genome — still qualifies these animals as "semi-domesticated." Other scientists vehemently oppose this designation.
