Well, indeed, it is a legume, therefore "caviar" for your system ... That I will reserve for gluttonous plants such as pdt / cabbage / cucurbits ... Otherwise, beware of nitrates in nature ...

Yes the sainfoin is well unpacked.

Good all the better if it suits potatoes well because I had no choice

Thank you

We just have to wait

Yes.

When you find consumption potatoes that are just starting to germinate, you can have your cake and eat it too: eat the skinned tuber and cut the germ alone!

As I say in the video, this is the first time in my life that I have seen a leopard slug eating another slug.

For you the making of this surprising video not so much because of this predation as the way it happened.

I returned from closing the hens.
And on the terrace I find this magnificent leopard slug.

As usual, I put it in the trunk: the very first in the left row and I go about my night shoots on the slugs.
Then the daylight fading I return home to get the flashlight.

And I go to the trunk 3 ie the second in the right row.
And who I find myself: my leopard and in addition trying to nibble a little gray.

That she swallowed up one of her fellows was already surprising in itself.
But what was much more was the path that had been covered in such a short time.
Well, it must be 2m to 2m50 in all, but still ...
No matter how much I checked and double-checked in the 1-point trunk of my leopard.
I concluded, without proof since I had not followed her journey, that it was she who had ended up in the trunk 3
I saw a lot in the pleasure garden but frankly I NEVER saw it spontaneously in the trunks so I think it was the one that I brought back myself this evening which moved from '' one chest to another in 2 stages and 3 movements.

Still, I remained skeptical about the fact that a leopard slug is really carnivorous ...
My confirmation by the image.

Well, we understand, why it can not control the population of slugs, if each time it lasts three hours, and if in addition, it is not their exclusive food. When you have a population of hundreds of slugs, it is better to opt for Indian runners. :D
But more seriously, your observations join mine: the leopard that I observed eating another slug, attacked a very small slug, and it lasts a long time. Being very omnivorous, it is above all the decaying wood, which she adores, in my pile of wood it is Mr. Hedgehog, who efficiently takes care of slugs, including leopards.

Yes I think that level of slug consumption is completely anecdotal.

So much so that I thought it was a legend.

But not in the end.

I will have seen it at least once in my life.

The fact remains that it was I who placed it where it was, so if you have to add the man's hand, you can't get by.

Reason for which concerning the fight against the slugs I opted for a much more cautious and efficient technique.

some news

Just like in the "bathtub" cleaning the chests and all the herbs that have grown there provides a good little first layer mulch.

The carrot (s) ...

But especially the one that stayed open this winter ....

With a mixture of carrots, clover, phacelia, cinquefoil ... er the salads are underneath for the honor.

Well it's a bit of a mess but it's good to observe everyone's behavior.

The vetch took advantage of spring ...

They are everywhere.
Curious to see what will grow in the middle of it all this summer?

Okay, I'm going to cut a little bit to install odds and ends but as and when.

The soil in any case seems to have damn benefited from it ... not at all the same texture as before.
