Younger I had done a super simple solar dryer.
A wooden part painted in black, a window trap a blade of air about 10cm thick for 70cm wide 1m long.
The inclined box for maximum sunshine. In the upper part a box with a grid on which we put the cut fruit.
By circulating from the bottom up the dry air in a good sunny day. (8 TO 10h)
It is not hot enough to cook, sometimes it takes 2 days to dry.

Ah yes, for the roots, there are the silos. It worked really well with us: carrots, celery, beets ... Like "new", even in April of the following year ...

Definitely we have common tastes for some documentaries!

I had never seen a land like that, in my opinion it will be a bit complicated to replicate at home! And yum-yum taupier rats! Except (for those who have followed) to put a cup of Mousline next, of course!

Me either it looks like cake ... as for the taupier rats one can suppose that if the system existed it is that it worked.

For the strawberries, they dried in 10h / 11h with a good result.

how did you feel they were dry and you could stop drying?

visually it is clear when a food is still wet, and at worst to the touch when you take off the thin slices of strawberry baking paper it gives a good idea!

A zucchini cut into small cubes which has sown 3 weeks in a water with 30g of salt per liter in jar with seal.
The preservation is successful, after scrambling 1 week it stopped.
The taste is not exceptional but cooked it is consumable and with imagination it should be able to conquer palates.
