In anticipation of the future crops of the vegetable garden of the sloth I made a solar sterilizer.
The basis are 2 vacuum tubes made in China of course.
I had tested the temperature of a jar containing water in the tube alone. water 150 degree max and air tube 103
I mounted the tubes in a box covered with aluminum foil plus a glass to protect everything the maximum temperature remains the same
In the box the temperature is 50 degrees at the bottom and 67 at the top, the outside sensor measures 25 in full sun.
Why don't I have a temperature gain, is it because the water evaporating it cannot rise any more?

Re: Solar sterilizer
any change of state takes place at constant temperature, so yes as long as it evaporates, it will stay at 100 ° C
what is the purpose of your system? because sterilizer, it is to make preserves? you can explain the principle of operation, because it interests me but I do not see how you are going to use this device
I have a solar dryer in the works

Re: Solar sterilizer
Inside, I put jars up to 10 cm in diameter from the bottom. I leave 1 ha 100 degrees minimum.
I tried it on a jar with cabbage and a little water, the lid was tight. Lid depression and pshit when opening.
I planned to make a designer by putting the tubes upside down. I don't think the air is too hot. Maybe provide partial shade.

yes to dehydrate without cooking, you must not exceed 50 to 660 ° C, so shade or ventilate, I go on a ventilation system
thank you for the idea otherwise what is called precisely your tubes? what is the price order?

It is true that it leaves room for cooking pebbles!

Re: Solar sterilizer
Less effort you meant between 50 and 60 I guess and no

I bought these tubes through the association of the sun in our plates, they make one order per year. Tubes cost around € 90 plus transport. For a pallet it takes around 150 €.
If you are not far from the Jura you can go get them.

Re: Solar sterilizer
indeed it is between 50 and 60 ° C
90 € a tube, it's an investment, plus it must be fragile, right?
So you have to see the durability, you keep us informed, very interested in your tests of preserves, because it is a means of storing over the long term without consuming energy for storage, so if in addition we do not use it not for manufacturing, it's Top
in any case thank you for the idea of solar sterilizer, I had not thought of it
