Plants often work the opposite of us! Many garden wanderings come from there: men are moody; not the plants!]

There are plants that are better off when they've been manipulated under a moon or constellations that are beneficial to them.
You just have to try to be convinced.
What do we officially know if plants are subjected to, are neutral or appreciate the stars and / or their position, a question that must undoubtedly be asked?

the big problem is that the plants are not able to agree on a consensus too much, there is always debate between them

After the night at -4 °, it remains in the vegetable garden:
- Kale cabbage in great shape
- red cabbages just before heading
- leeks still a little thin for my taste
- small beets
- perry left after being cut
- head cabbages, at different stages
- red batavia from Grenoble it struggles to grow but it's fine
- beans in great shape
- spinach
- 1 black radish the only one that has risen on the line small puny
- turnips eaten by caterpillars ... but even grow
- carrots late sowing in great shape
- sugarloaf salads
- parsley, coriander, and other herbs
- lots of small tufts of reseeded lamb's lettuce (yum)
- 2 feet of artichokes

Ah well, like what by listing we see that there are more left in the vegetable garden than we might think :)

Weather forecast in the area: the next 15 days between -4 and 0 ° suddenly I took out the covers for the vegetable garden, now there is a veil on the beets and spinach and a veil + a plastic on the salad tunnel carrots and turnips.

I'm still skeptical: the thermometer indicated -1 ° outside and 4 ° under the tunnel ... I think that makes a lot of difference :?

With snow or without ????

With, you can have - 15 ° C "outside" and - 2 ° C under the snowpack. It is a good insulator. And don't forget that the ground, near the surface is still around + 5 ° C. So if you put an "insulator" on top, the temperature below will tend towards the temperature of the ground ...

The veil does not insulate as much, but maintains a layer of air that heats up. Without this, it would mix with the ambient air and have the temperature "outside" ...

When there is wind, the evaporation of water by the wind also acts in the direction of cooling "outside".

No snow yet, just a few flakes.
It is true that the ground is not yet too cold, so much the better if I can trust my thermometer :)

Now, I am sorting my seeds and preparing my list for the vegetable garden 2021 :D

My pepper seeds that I collected are all black and stunted ... I think I missed the cuvée. On the other hand, I got some beautiful tomato seeds full of hope :)
As for tomatoes this year, new products:
- Siberian very early variety ... it seems
- Beefsteak late variety and large fruit ... that way I will catch normal sized tomatoes :P

Can't wait to start spring planting ...

Probably not "ripe" enough - so these "green" seeds have molded before drying out. I had this with chili peppers ...

To be sure: a little test on blotting paper kept humid, warm!

Naturally sown by nature. which proves once again if need be that all the "agitations" (all the "it is necessary to do like this, like that, the moon etc) are agitations and far from being essential - not even always effective!

Have you observed like me that it almost always grows better "next to" other vegetables: at home, at the foot of escaroles, blackcurrants ... ????

It is one of the rare vegetables which, for its germination, prefers semi-shade ... In 2019, I emitted "bare" where I had harvested the potatoes. I put, then forgot, a bunch of "beet inflorescence" mounted in seeds ... Under this bunch, there were 3 times more chews!

In short, just remember not to collect everything, to let the seeds go up and then "shake" the plants all over the place when they dry out and the seeds are ripe ...
