Hello everyone, I come to you to ask you for help to save this beautiful little tree, do not look, it is a lime tree!
A bad driver managed to tear off the bark on almost 2m in height and 20cm in width on a trunk which is maybe 40cm in circumference.
Here are the photos, and what I did to try to save it, will it be enough?
The damage:
and even:
The solution, the links were in the container,
I tied them end to end and I put all my weight to tighten as much as possible
Will this be enough, will there be other things to put?
My brother tells me that I should put a specific putty for tree cuts, to protect the "flesh" (the wood) of the tree, without its "skin" (the bark) he has no luck to survive
Thank you for it, and meow!
Question denounce the bastard who did that, or not?

Isn't that cute !
Unfortunately, I fear that your "repairs" do no longer harm than they do good.
Indeed, the bark will not stick together as the skin of an animal would. The biggest risk for the tree now is contamination by pathogens (especially fungi).
However, by covering the damaged and contaminated parts, you have created an ideal "niche": humid, sheltered from drafts.
Anyway, with such an injury, the tree will be disfigured for a long time (if it survives the above attacks).
It will slowly rebuild its bark from the edges of the wound.
In this case the best thing to do is ... do nothing. Or not much: clean the wound by removing all the parts of peeled bark. That's all.
Putty, if not applied immediately after the injury will also be harmful.
Here, sorry for your poor lime tree.

And I think about the idea of swinging the idiot who considers that everything can be bought ...
