I keep my computer until it is really obsolete or very tired and therefore its use is very complex or ineffective.
But in general, the recovery of these products is very well implemented and effective.
Especially since manufacturers have made sure to build a device with a minimum of different raw materials.
WEEE: how long you keep your pc?

Congratulations!
By taking a value of 5 and 6 years for the last 2 options of the survey we get an average of 4,8 years per PC!
It's huge considering the field

I too am discovering the thread of the discussion.
I mounted my pc, it is an AMD barton 1800 + 512 MRams
a little overwhelmed but despite the fact that it is rowing hard i arrive
still to play on BF2.
But it starts to be exceeded, I will have to replace it
by something more recent.
My precedent was a Pentium II xeon, a racing beast
bought second hand. On UT I was a real wildcat.
It’s the kids who inherited it and they’re still playing on it
has UT and AoM.
In fact these are the games that make me change my pc, my mouse has
over 6 years (I regularly replace the push pins which
skate) and it’s only now that I’m
finally decided to offer a Logitech G7 mouse.
I must say that I am still a kid, I love games.
My pc is 80% of games, 15% of net and 5% of office automation.
still, the truth is that the game must take 95% of the CPU time.
As for screens, I always use old used screens.
In more than 6 years I am at my 3rd (well a 19 "), these are
thunderstorms that decide their fate.
keyboard question, I'm on the 4th. The previous ones are dead
following an ovedose of coca or other lemonades (children
are pitiless for my pc)
From an ecological point of view, for me, the real pollution of a pc
is not its components (apart from the battery) but its
power consumption .

Good evening everyone.
Okay, I'll get started too. I have an AMD 1200 with 256 RAM. He is 4 years old I think and I will finish him. On the other hand, I "recycle" a lot. All the old stuff that I see going by, I take it and give it (once it's working, of course) to those who need it. Who often pass them on to others, ...
Despite his age, I don't feel the need to change. Because I use GNU / Linux and always "compile" my programs. So optimization for my bike. In this area, it's sometimes worth doing the "trash". I recently recovered a bike from a box which found it too slow: 1.8Gh 256 RAM, equipped with network and SILEnheavens.
And I still have my old Atari (1040STE) and an Oric1 just waiting to work again. In other words, not only do I rarely part with my PCs (as long as they are running), but when I do, I don't throw them away.
Well, a bit of propoganda: Linux powa
oops, sorry.
Gilles
