Recovering building materials

In Portland (Oregon, USA), the "rebuilding center" recovers deconstruction materials for reuse.
http://www.rebuildingcenter.org/

It is a non-profit association. But it's profitable! For 80% of the materials, reuse is not profitable, but the remaining 20% finance the whole. And staff are paid 50% above the minimum wage.

Is there something equivalent in France? When I see what is thrown away during a renovation site: materials, sanitary, doors ...
