I apply the same principle on the CATHI Berlingomoreen, with the addition of Nicad / LiFePO4 batteries.
However, the electric Berlingo was not intended to carry a generator ... The Chevrolet Volt is much more accomplished from this point of view.

We look forward to seeing you! Remundo, for details. When is a rustic and inexpensive vehicle based on the same principle? Does your Berlingo still have its tank? Really no way to add a small diesel generator capable of providing enough to take 100 km / h while cruising? The Berlingo Electric has seen its initial tank reduced to around ten liters. These 10L of gasoline supply a "Webasto" gasoline burner exclusively intended for heating the passenger compartment, so as not to cut off the range by inadequate electric heating on an EV.
Berlingo CATHI has 120 km of autonomy with its 8 kWh of Li-On and its 16 kWh of Nicad.
Mon generator on board 15L of petrol and theoretically makes it possible to extend the range by around 150 km.
In practice, I do not have the place of the generator. I would have to mount this generator either on the roof (not good for aerodynamics), or on a rear door (not good for hinges). The compartment under the hood is already full, even if with a lot of will and technical skill, we could perhaps find room.
As I do not need in my daily use of 270 km of autonomy, I have not made these technical adaptations. I just take my group on a few rare occasions in the back space of my van.
This removable nature of the generator set does not only have disadvantages: it makes it possible to eliminate its dead weight for all short journeys, and to have other uses for it than the car (domestic cogeneration, site group, emergency electricity ) ...
To return to the subject: it would be up to the manufacturers to do what needs to be done ...
Chevrolet offers something technically good *, but too expensive.
The vehicles everyone is waiting for have already been mass produced. Kangoo Elect'road, Dassault / SVE Cleanova on a Renault base ...
The entire Nicad PSA generation (106, Saxo, AX, Berlingo, Partner) could easily integrate a range extender in a post-engineered version and cheap.
All these projects are dead or never saw the light of day through political-industrial decisions.
Therefore, Sycamore has developed its own automobile from a good existing base: the Berlingo Electric ...
With rather derisory means on my prototype, I obtain remarkable results, close to the new electric and hybrid vehicles mainly offered by the "big names".

It remains to install a 110 volt outlet system everywhere around the restaurants shopping center at the employers for their worker who parks ect .. it is something relatively easy to do given the low cost of electricity .
