Interesting article for people with small daily trips and with few means of recharging. French innovation in addition, with the objective of doubling this distance in 2022!

Re: Car with retractable solar panels: 30 km recovered per day
30 km more per day seems very optimistic, especially for a vehicle like this.
The idea of putting PV on an electric vehicle is not new. In the present case, the system seems a little fragile and not very durable.
Besides, why not integrate the PV directly on the bodywork?
That said, it's been years that the performance of PV posed on a vehicle, car, truck, bicycle, (and electric carriage! ) are not profitable and the gain in autonomy is ridiculous given the additional costs and masses, small areas in the sun, and the energy required to move a rolling vehicle, without forgetting the solar orientation which will only be good partially, especially in town.
In short, a lot of parameters that seem to say that this original project is more absurd than realistic, which does not prevent us from continuing to research, invent and test. A good solar idea will come!
So nothing new under the sun ... for now!

I find the technology of these very flexible PVs interesting. Anyone know more about these flexible PVs?
I had looked for similar products for a PV tarpaulin on the electrically-powered carriage but nothing was ready a few years ago, and specialists told me that even with almost 10 m² of PV on the tarpaulin of the carriage, the gain would be ridiculous! ...

Anyone know more about these flexible PVs?
The future generation of perovskite-based panels will make flexible solar panels with a yield of around 15-20%.
Perovskites contain lead in very small quantities and it is on this problem (and that of humidity) that we are currently working.
They are less toxic than flexible panels based on galium or indium.
The best is still to put classic silicon panels in your garden, or on your roof, or even replace your cedar fence with two-sided silicon solar panels.
