Use your brain - dyspraxia

by lavedocyre » 10/01/14, 13:44

Hello everyone, I have a child in the third year of primary school, he has significant academic difficulties and has just been diagnosed with "dyspraxic". Are there people among you who have some mastery of the subject?
Are there exercises to train the brain to better use its potential.
* Definition: Dyspraxias are anomalies in the planning and organization of gestures (the
gesture being a succession of movements for a specific action). In the dyspraxic subject, the gesture does not
does not automate, it always requires an extremely costly voluntary control on the plan
attention which generates abnormal fatigue. As a result, the gestures are slow and clumsy.
* Evocative signs1
:
The child is most often intelligent, lively, curious, it invests particularly the verbal domain.
However, "he does not look well", seems dreamy, sometimes lost, is misguided. He is "abnormally"
clumsy. He prefers oral and auditory activities. It avoids construction games, puzzles. He overinvests
his inner world (reverie, imaginary) and speech. It does not find its place in group games and
playgrounds.
We observe :
- Delay, acquisition difficulties and clumsiness concerning gross motor skills; fine motor skills and
gestures (connecting, surrounding, crossing out elements, etc.); daily life skills (dressing, cutting
meat…); the location and management of objects in space.
- Difficulties in following the lines in reading, in passing from one line to another; jumps of syllables, of words. The copy
is more difficult for these children to perform than dictation.
- Delay in acquiring basic spatial concepts (labyrinths, double entry board, plans, etc.)

difficult to answer with so little information on the child's history and it is not the purpose of this kind of forum. It is possible that there is a correspondence in the homeopathic medical matter and therefore consult a good unicist homeopath. This can come from vertebral displacements, food poisoning like endocrine disruptors and other toxic products, vaccines, psychological trauma, etc ...

Without being an expert on the subject, a son of my wife's cousin was diagnosed with the same problem a decade ago.

First of all, to reassure, I can say that he is now 20 years old and a completely normal life after a good education.

On the other hand, it is true that this problem prevented him from continuing to practice the football which fascinated him at the time.

The only advice I can give is to quickly contact a doctor specialized in this type of problems. It was only when he began to make regular sessions with this specialist (about 2 years after the diagnosis) that significant progress was noticed.

Yes, it's true that I put very little info on a problem too
vast.
Knowing where the concern is coming from will be difficult or impossible to determine anyway.
I am looking for information on the possibilities of training the brain to bypass difficulties at best.
Currently my boy is being followed in posturology.
This is a complete monitoring of the child's position:
- vision (telescope with prism) - podologist (orthopedic sole) microkine-kinesiology-brain gym-speech therapist-occupational therapist to learn how to use the PC in class.
Well, a lot is already in place, but currently few therapists know the problem in depth, here in Belgium have discovered the subject for a few years.

Precisely in this subject, he wrote this: "To facilitate the inversion, you have to concentrate on the reflection at the foot of the ballerina.
Otherwise there are exercises to "balance" your hemispheres. "

the exercises interest me, I hope that the author will pass on my subject.
Thank you Gaston, the aids by specialized people have been in place for about 1 1/2, it is progressing but it is very difficult. After having redone his second primary, the third is compromised ... I hope to have come across the right people, I have in any case the strong impression.

That speaks well to me given that I myself was diagnosed with dyspraxia, but quite late (at the end of 3rd if I remember correctly). But I think my case is not as important as some because I do not identify with all the "evocative signs" given.
But on the other hand, I have indeed always been totally incapable in puzzle games / assembling objects etc ... I do not prefer to try again today. : Mrgreen:

Otherwise, I too have been struggling for a long time, it started to get better from the 1st.

And I always had a lot of trouble in all manual work, I think it is probably related to dyspraxia (the same for your son?)

Yes indeed he is quite clumsy with his hands.
Each dyspraxic is different, some symptoms completely absent for one and very present for the other.
What appears more and more in my boy are the difficulties in mathematics.
French spells dictation words or conjugation quite well, when it goes to writing it is often very average or even bad.
In math. he does not manage to imagine the values ... for him an addition sometimes gives an answer lower than the starting figure without drawing attention to the obvious error .... he is 9 years old he will learn it is a obvious, but it should not be dumped by others who are already a year younger given his repetition of the second.
