The mystery of dark matter on Arte

by Janic » 11/08/13, 08:38

have or see again on arte "the mystery of dark matter"

The universe would be composed of 5% known matter, 18% dark matter and 72% dark energy. One of the speakers showing by the example of the cup that one is the demonstration of the existence of the other, however "invisible".

Good evening Janic,

Yes approximately. In fact it is better to say that we know less than 4% compared to research in particle physics, because for researchers: this small 1% would make a huge difference, since it would mean that we would have made a major breakthrough in mass estimates of galaxies!

How was it identified / calculated? By comparison of its distribution with "ordinary matter", astronomers tell us ...!

Because indeed, a good part of the rest is made up of equations based on these estimates, therefore they cannot afford such a large difference (since we quickly understand that this 1% rikiki would ultimately correspond to some 20% more that the little that we have already been able to observe in different ways! This does not mean that what is not observable does not exist, since the equations would prove the opposite, as I understood).

To find out what it is and how it was detected, take a look at recent observations:

And thank you for not asking me a question on this subject ( : Cheesy: )

to also review another very interesting documentary "the earth in boiling" which would have given rise to comments elsewhere including the fact of the current uplift of 5mm / year of Everest, that is to say 30 cm since the conquest of this one, it 60 years ago, which, on the estimated age of Everest of 8MA, would be 40 km high !!!!!!

obamot hello

Christophe will reproach me for wanting to relaunch the debate (even if it was too tempting). So stop, I would not go further, but the answer is self-evident, it's called a rule of three (level CM2! : Cheesy: )
To return to the subject, he returned to Arté, this afternoon at 16:15 pm.
