The magic of Cosmos

by sen-no-sen » 16/02/14, 19:15

To see or to watch again, a series in 4 episodes of the "magic of the cosmos" presented by Brian Greene:

Episode 1: The illusion of time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVJd3VfdRps

Episode 2: What is space ?:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-KlbMsP1Vls

Episode 3: The quantum leap:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMsdPA_cOdI

Episode 4: Universe or multiverse ?:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3jhna2d2uA

We can salute the popularization work carried out in this series on realities perceived daily, but often apprehended by our senses in deceptive ways.

It also makes you dizzy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMLPJqeW78Q

One cannot help thinking that the notion of size is also very relative, like that of time; as if the infinitely small merged with the infinitely large.

We could be the actors of an astronomical video game that it would hardly surprise me! : Lol:

The “hologram universe” hypothesis is gaining ground:

http://www.atlantico.fr/decryptage/univers-pourrait-bien-etre-hologramme-que-signifie-vraiment-etude-physiciens-japonais-qui-affirment-etienne-klein-925949.html

Etienne Klein: It seems that this team of Japanese researchers has validated by simulations a conjecture posed by Malcadena in 1997, according to which our universe would be a kind of projection of a universe having a greater number of dimensions. According to this holographic conjuncture, our universe is somehow the surface of a larger universe. But it is not yet known whether this theory is correct or not, because it has not yet been tested in the laboratory. This remains at the hypothetical stage.

Simple hypothesis, certainly, but which has the merit of calling into question the materialistic vision of everyday life.

I do not know this film I will inquire, thank you.
Matrix is very inspired by the comic book the necromancer and the film Dark city among others.
It is an adaptation of the allegory of Plato's cave.
With regard to the philosophy of the film, a certain number of quotations are inspired by the teachings of Ramana Maharshi (the greatest Indian sage of contemporary times):
"If you were in a dream that you can't get out of, how would you tell the difference between the dream world and the real world" ...

What is interesting is to note that the more science progresses and the more the discoveries which realize its in adequacy with the knowledge stemming from the great past spiritual currents (Gnosticism, Kabbalah, Hinduism, Buddhism etc ...)

absolutely! The Bible is probably the only work which expresses (in a form within the reach of its readers) this notion of relativity of space time, thousands of years before our researchers. Likewise, the prophecies are a demonstration of the non-separation of the past, present and future which are only a linear unfolding dimension (from the past to the future) of this same time.
on the other hand, what is even more difficult to imagine is the inexistence of space and time which, all things considered, remain of the "material" type.
