Bonjour à tous
A few days ago (May 4, 2012) took place the international conference, The Unexplored Atome, organized in Torino, Italy, dealing with Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (RNBE). Dr. Peter Hagelstein, a science professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and very active researcher in RNBE since 1989, gave a presentation in which he described an RNBE reactor which has been operating for 3 months at MIT and releases much more of energy, in the form of heat, than the electrical energy used by the cell to make it work.
The video of his presentation is available on the conference website at
http://theatomunexplored.com/?page_id=74
His presentation starts at 52 minutes from the beginning of the video.
The experiment was designed by Dr. Mitchell Swartz, an MIT graduate electrical engineering engineer and another pioneer of cold fusion (RNBE) since 1989. Dr. Swartz founded JET Energy Inc. in which he has been developing his prototypes of RNBE cells for over 20 years. This is his last reactor, called Nanor, which has been running for three months.
Dr. Hagelstein has estimated that the reactor has generated about 1000 times more energy, to date, than would be expected from the possible chemical reactions, thus showing that these are nuclear reactions. By reporting the energy released as heat divided by the electrical energy required to operate the reactor, they obtained a ratio of 14 in the first week of experience. The reactor can thus operate with a coefficient of performance (COP) of 14, for a certain time.
The Nanor uses nanometric palladium Pd powder (dimensions of the order of one millionth of a millimeter) in a zirconium oxide matrix ZrO2. Heavy hydrogen (deuterium) is introduced by electrolysis, after which the small cylinder is sealed and used in the Nanor reactor. The excitation is produced by means of an electric current (probably in the form of pulses) which is circulated along the cylinder. The latter is immersed in water, whose temperature rises are measured to deduce the energy releases. Just next to the Pd / ZrO2 cylinder there is an electrical resistance that can be used to calibrate the calorimeter (heat release measurement system).
This experiment was designed for a demonstration during a week-long short course given at MIT on RNBE by Professor Hagelstein at the end of January 2012. As a safety measure, the quantity of active ingredient is very small (less than one gram) and the electrical excitation powers have been kept low (a few milliwatts). The power generated is therefore also low, but demonstrates beyond doubt the reality of RNBEs, and their extraordinary potential as a source of clean energy, without GHGs, nuclear waste or radioactivity.
There are now 23 years that competent and tenacious scientists have demonstrated in hundreds of positive experiences, made in several laboratories of several countries, the reality of the RNBE, in the almost total indifference of the official science !!!!
In this sector, it is clear that scientists have not used the scientific method, but more prejudice and emotions, even some financial interests to deny this new branch of science, and ostracize researchers in NRBE. In several countries (including the United States), it has been decreed that this kind of research would not be funded, that a patent would not be granted and that the articles would not be published in leading scientific journals. Everything has been put in place to block the progress of these discoveries, which carry so many promises for a better world.
The reality of scientists is that they are successful in their specialty, and cannot know everything. They therefore rely on a consensus to form their opinion on subjects outside their specialty, and it is there that some individuals in positions of power within the scientific establishment can have an undue influence, especially if they are reluctant to change and have public speaking skills to influence assemblies. And that's without counting the powerful lobbies that act in the shadows. Of course, there were difficulties in reproducing the experiments and some errors made by the RNBE researchers at the start of this saga, but we do not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
Sincerely
Pierre Langlois, Ph.D.

The cold fusion is ... take with the same tweezers as Rossi Focardi: https://www.econologie.com/forums/reaction-d ... 10384.html ... but there, it's MIT all the same!

For 23 years, since 1989, it heats much more than possible chemical reactions, without leading, to useful achievements and even less without a clear and proven understanding of the mechanisms.
This text is similar to that of over 15 years ago !!!
There are lots of articles, strange studies, with transmutations of aberrant atoms !!!!!
Even without heating by Kervran, never seriously tested.

Chic then: no patents !
Of course, you have to be intellectually careful, but there is no smoke without fire. Too many people are currently publishing on the unfortunately costly Pd-D reaction.
I suppose that sooner or later, scientists will lend their hardware to others to validate their tests until we find out what works and what doesn't. After all, it took well over a decade for Lilienthal, Chanutte and Whright to find out why a wing was flying.
I'm reading US Patent 6,248,221 which I mentioned a few days ago: there are so many tests to do. Must say, that with sentences such as:
we realize immediately that we are not there!
I'm going to republish your quote in "Foccardi Rossi" because "it's the same fight"
