Well, the Grail sought after is dark matter that physicists would like to be able to materialize one day. http://lapth.cnrs.fr/pg-nomin/taillet/d ... didats.php

I had discovered a few years ago that you could make at home and for a few euros an "aquarium fishing for cosmic particles" ... far from pharaonic research budgets ... obviously it is a basic sensor that we get with this method!

Info on this subject is quite scarce here is a page which presents the technique: http://www.wikidebrouillard.org/index.p ... ebographie)

For fun, don't hesitate to make a cosmic particle detector yourself !!

Watch this video where you will hear the emotion of seeing cosmic particles (well, the trace of their passage) with very simple equipment: an aquarium, a projector, black cloth, isopropilic alcohol (found in pharmacy) and dry ice (which you can buy online).

And for those who want to go further on the manufacture and understanding of fog chambers:
memory.pdf
(1.14 million) Downloaded times 415

For this, we presented an exhibition, then, supported by CERN, we made a board game, made a fog chamber, and we are experimenting with a muon detector made by in2p3, before making our own detector
