it is magnesium which is dangerous because its chips burn ... almost like the old photo flashes!

titanium is used to make chemistry devices, for superior corrosion resistance to stainless steel

for example it is resistant to chlorine: it is used as a pool heat exchanger when stainless steel is not enough

a piece fallen from space would be heated deformed melted, by the reentry in the atmosphere

More really, the main problem of titanium machining is the risk of titanium fire. Today, this risk is very well controlled. For example by SNECMA during the manufacture of the compressors for its reactors.

Well yes, the rare firms capable of doing so are being paid very dearly and if in addition it is necessary to certify "aviation".

The Chatelot reaction is relevant: reaction with chlorine. Combat gas generator?

As for the traces of re-entry into the atmosphere, if it comes from an airplane which explodes a few thousand meters, without object.
Besides, in these large icy expanses, where few people can walk at night, in winter, nothing tells us that it comes from an aircraft ...

If it falls, it's a high tech "old scrap", deposited there to hide "something else", justify an eviction zone, etc ...
(yes, I will always be a little conspiratorial : Mrgreen: )

They started polluting it long before Chernobyl. Worse with the Chinese and the Indians in the battle, I don't see how it could improve in the medium term.

Otherwise this object puzzles me. Is the dating reliable?

what are you talking about dating? Mechanism or tank?

The theory of the mechanism was quickly buried by several observers: living beings like crinoids. I suppose we date according to the geological layers.

For the tank: no scientific analysis is currently echoed: not even with a Geiger counter. It was discovered recently.

Correction:

according to this source, the object does not seem to be radioactive:

that said, it's quickly said that it's not spatial:

On the other hand, there is what fell in Namibia:

and that in Brazil:

Our country walks are becoming less and less safe. Headphones recommended :D
