An interview with the philosopher Eric Sadin by the chain Thinkerview on enslavement by Artificial Intelligence.
For once we are entitled to a speech clearly skeptical of AI that changes us from the usual doxa, and it feels good!

No, sorry! But it's better than watching a series con con on one of the channels of DTT. : Wink:
At 19'23 there is a passage which corresponds completely to the criticism that we can make of our elites blissful in front of the AI and our supposed "delay".

Here is a prophetic excerpt from "Manifesto of the Communist Party"Of Marx-Engels
Moreover, as we have just seen, entire fractions of the ruling class are, by the progress of industry, precipitated into the proletariat, or are threatened, at least, in their conditions of existence.

Of course, they do not talk about big data, but a process that is always at work: some texts do not age, on the essential.

Will the Artificial Intelligent War take place? ...

More and more experts agree that Artificial Intelligence will benefit in the first place the powerful and well-off of this world! ...

Indeed, assuming that the development of AI requires significant financial resources and specialists of the highest level, it follows that the powerful and wealthy will be the first to benefit. Moreover, when we see the budgets planned to fund research in AI (the unit is the Billion), we have no doubt that everyone will not have access to it and that the funders of the development of the IA will require returns on investments comparable to the most lucrative current sectors.

Currently it is the famous GAFAM who inject large means, followed by finance, governments, etc., and we now know their purpose: to make more money.

It is not hard to imagine that the basic citizen (again him), will not be not only the first beneficiary of the expected benefits of the AI, but worse, that the AI will surely be used first to increase the profits of multinationals and other financial aspirants, and ultimately the IA will first participate in controlling (exploiting) the large manipulable mass that this large population of grassroots citizens represent, and, as a result, drawing more effectively money in the pocket of the basic citizen (still him) ...
Some people say that behind AI, there is the emergence of a "digital antihumanism".

In the same way that it can be predicted that AI will first be used to increase the interests and benefits of the dominant minority to the detriment of the dominated majority, it can also be predicted that there will inevitably be countervailing powers. and protest reactions: so there will probably be a powerful AI that will oppose the AI of the weak, the AI of the rich to which will oppose the AI of the poor, not to mention the military and government AIs that will battle with great battles algorithms ...

SpiNNaker, the world's largest supercomputer emulating a human brain, has been launched, a first since its inception
The 5 November 2018, by Bill Fassinou, Chronicler News

SpiNNaker (Spiking Neural Network Architecture) is the name of the supercomputer designed to work like the human brain, or at least approaching it at best. The machine is capable of performing 200 millions of millions of operations per second. It was designed and built by the University of Manchester School of Computer Science and required 20 years of development and 10 years of construction. According to the scientists in charge of the project, it is the "largest neuromorphic supercomputer in the world, designed and built to function in the same way as the human brain." Since 2016 its construction began, it was the 2 last November that it was started for the first time. This is good news for scientists who for years have come up with a variety of ways to better understand the brain, including the use of supercomputers.

As you certainly know, the brain is the most complex organ of the human body and its structure is radically different from a computer processor: when the brain aligns neurons for computation and synapses for information transfer the current processors are made of logic gates. However, scientific research, in neurology for example, needs large-scale simulations of the human brain: the European project HBP (human brain project) is trying to get there by 2023. With the differences between the two architectures, it takes excessive resources to simulate a small part of the brain using normal processors.

Hence the SpiNNaker architecture, designed to closely mimic the human brain, specifically the module of spiking neural networks. The supercomputer of the same name is built using ARM processors, but arranged in a specific way: on six hundred cards, it uses one, four or forty-eight chips ARM968 (an old version of ARM architecture) - each chip contains eighteen cores and one hundred and twenty-eight megabytes of RAM, network communications are at a speed of one hundred megabits per second. SpiNNaker is not the first supercomputer to integrate nearly one million processor cores, but what makes it unique is that it is designed to mimic the human brain.

Most computers send information from one point to another via a standard network. SpiNNaker sends small amounts of information simultaneously to thousands of points, just as neurons exchange hormones and electrical signals in the brain. Spinnaker uses electronic circuits to mimic neurons. "SpiNNaker has completely redesigned the way classic computers work. We have essentially created a machine that functions more like a brain than a conventional computer, which is extremely exciting, "said Dr. Steve Furber, professor of computer engineering at the University of Manchester School of Computer Science, United Kingdom.

Initially funded by the British Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the project is now supported by the European project "Human Brain" and cost nearly 15 million pounds (about 19,5 million US dollars). This supercomputer can, with its ability to 200 million million operations per second, "model more biological neurons in real time than any other machine on the planet," says the university. The goal for scientists is to model up to 1 billion neurons, ten times more than the brain of a mouse (100 million), but 100 times less than that of a human (100 billion).

Because, for the moment, SpiNNaker's architecture makes it possible to model cortical microcircuits (located on the outer part of the brain, they receive and process the information coming from the five senses) on useful time scales: considering the state of neurons every 0,1 ms, SpiNNaker happens to be barely twenty times slower than real-time (a second in a "real" brain takes twenty seconds of computing time). The cortical circuit in question consists of just under eighty thousand neurons and three hundred thousand synapses, whereas only six cards of forty-eight hearts were used.

"One of its basic uses is to help neuroscientists better understand how our brain works," say the researchers. And to get there, this machine is able to run simulations in real time on a very large scale. Dr. Steve Furber said: "Neuroscientists can now use Spinnaker to unlock some of the secrets of how the human brain works by running large-scale simulations." He also adds that SpiNNaker works as a real-time neuron simulator that could allow roboticists to design large neural networks for mobile robots so they can move and talk flexibly while consuming very little energy.
