The specialization of individuals, therefore the focusing of their intelligence on restricted problems, considerably increases overall entropy, but the other side of the coin is that this concentration on the means causes us to lose sight of the finality*, we will say holistic. , and leaves the field open to determinism... This is probably what sums up Anaya with its formula: "It [the brain] excels in the intelligence of bullshit...".

* Which only relates to the means deployed by others...

I think that by betting as much as possible on efficiency, renewable energies, without neglecting nuclear power to ensure the energy transition, we should to be able to survive the dark period of excess CO2 which will poison us for quite some time...
another reassuring dream! and simplistic : roll:

The hypersensitive brain

Sensitivity is not a figment of the mind! It is based on cerebral and partly genetic bases. This is established by a growing number of studies.

given the recent enthusiasm for the concept of hypersensitivity, one can sometimes wonder if there is not sometimes a form of self-persuasion. In other words, some individuals, believing they recognize themselves in the portrait that we make of people on edge, would declare themselves hypersensitive and would present themselves as such, whether in society or in front of doctors who would ask them the question. . In short, hypersensitivity would be a matter of feeling, and not an objective fact.

Except… humans aren't the only ones with varying thresholds of sensitivity. Animals are also more or less sensitive. There are even validated sensitivity tests for horses or dogs. And we cannot suspect them of wanting to enter a social role dictated by a fashion of the moment. Therefore, there must be something biological in this case. Enough to encourage research into how genetics, brain function or observable behaviors distinguish people with greater sensitivity.

In fact, today, research on personality pleads for the existence of a genetic influence. In 2015, Tena Vukasović and Denis Bratko, both researchers at the University of Zagreb, published a summary of 62 studies involving a total of more than 100 participants. It shows that, in general, the personality of an individual is partly genetically inherited. According to the methods used to estimate the part due to genetics, we find an average heritability varying from 000% to 22% – the highest values being reached in studies on twins. Always less than 47% therefore, but never negligible.

The Genetics of Sensitivity

None of the 62 studies included in Vukasović and Bratko's review use a measure of sensitivity. However, Elham Assary and four of his colleagues from the University of London tackled this question in 2021, bridging the gap between sensitivity and other personality traits. By analyzing the susceptibility of 2 twins, they show that monozygotic twins, who share 868% of their genes, are more alike in character than dizygotic twins, who share about 100% of their genes. This difference in the level of closeness between brothers or sisters would make it possible to estimate the heritability of susceptibility at 50%, which means that 47% of the variations in susceptibility from one person to another are explained by genes. A classic value in personality research using the twin method.

No she is not “a view of the mind”.

Cognition (an eminently psychosensory thing) leads to the production of “products” which are so many biochemical and/or bioelectronic messages, which can lead to the same consequences, for example in twins — apparently in very good physical shape — but having suddenly contracted the same pathology (example: the Bogdanoff brothers).
