than ? I told you it was the explosives that were unstable! on the other hand gasoline vapors mixed with air, that .... but yes in general you need an ignition source, as with explosives elsewhere.

Yes, okay with the explosives but you answered my words about a thermobaric bomb ...

In short, we agree!

Giant Arecibo telescope to be demolished, a blow to world astronomy

The famous telescope in Puerto Rico, which threatens to collapse after the rupture of two support cables, will be dismantled after fifty-seven years of service, announced the American National Science Foundation.

https://www.lemonde.fr/sciences/article ... 50684.html

The peculiarity of the Arecibo telescope is that it is a spherical and non-parabolic proofreader... something I did not know existed in astronomy!

It therefore has no focal point from its entire surface but apparently it is useful in astronomy ... not well understood the details ...

The first rapid radio burst detected in the Milky Way repeats

A rapid radio burst was first detected in the Milky Way. New observations indicate that the signal seems to be repeating. Several questions remain unanswered to better understand the source.

The detection of rapid radio bursts, ephemeral signals studied by astronomers, jumped in 2020. For the first time, one of these signals was detected inside the Milky Way. Now, we know that this signal has repeated itself, as scientists announced in the journal Nature Astronomy on November 16, 2020.

Fast radio bursts are bursts of light associated with radio waves, lasting on the order of a few milliseconds and whose sources are unknown. From the SGR 1935 + 2154 source, a very specific rapid radio burst was detected last April by various observatories: then renamed “FRB 200428”, the signal detected turned out to be important for several reasons. Not only is it the first rapid radio burst spotted in our galaxy, it is also the first to be associated with the presence of a magnetar - neutron stars that have a very powerful magnetic field.
