Techno-parasitism: a real dragonfly controlled remotely:

Equipping Insects for Special Service

Draper combinations navigation and neuromodulation to guide insects

CAMBRIDGE, MA - The smallest aerial drones mimic insects in many ways, but none can match the efficiency and maneuverability of the dragonfly. Now, engineers at Draper are creating a new kind of hybrid drone by combining miniaturized navigation, synthetic biology and neurotechnology to guide dragonfly insects. The system looks like a backpack for a dragonfly.

There it is not biomimicry, it is the man who "pirates" nature ...

And it's not new: during WWII the US army (I believe) sacrificed dolphins in minefields ...

The man? Not so sure ... at least we are next on the list.
The American army always uses dolphins for the close protection of its warships, more particularly submarines or aircraft carriers.

In the context of research on AI or more broadly the increase in robotic functionality there are two main and complementary approaches:bottom up ou top down .
Basically the one which consists of starting from the smallest element until going up to the top, and the other which starts from the whole and which goes towards the smallest scale.

Thus certain researches try to make artificial brains by imitating nature, and others to understand the very principles which allow a system to become intelligent.
