On November 23, 2013, the Cité des Sciences organized its first Forum de la Villette around issues related to 3D printing. On the program: various round tables and workshops to explore the range of possibilities.

Organic materials for 3D printers:

A material made of algae:

The idea was born from the encounter between Bertier Luyt of Fabshop Rémy Lucas and company Quimpéroise Algopack. Finally, the founder of Fabshop, the SWF has strong technical qualities: "It's a bioplastic which has a lower density. The parts are lighter at equal volume. Disadvantage :

recycled waste

It is still in its infancy, but the "makers" try it. In January, an American student presented the Filabot, a machine that transforms everyday plastic waste (bottles, packaging ...) into a material that could integrate 3D machines. Disadvantage :

Hello,
I have read every page of this article without having been able to find vital information for me.
What types of file formats 3D are read by these printers?
I hope we can make them swallow the IGES or SAT, STL, DXF3D or something like this here in order to make them compatible with CAD 3D commercial software.
Otherwise no interest if one should only get ready examples found on the net.

this one https://www.econologie.com/shop/impriman ... p-511.html uses Repetier http://www.repetier.com/ which uses Gcode format whose native and OBJ STL ...

After plenty of free converters.

Default on http://www.thingiverse.com/ this is the .STL in the vast majority of cases, therefore usable by Repetier ...

An example: I had to put in an electronic box 3 9V batteries; out, if commercially compartments for 1 or 2 batteries, I have not found 3 batteries.

As it was 10 me, it's not worth making a special manufacturing (too expensive) even folded sheets.

I released in realizing a small printed circuit assembly (variant of Lego)

Next time I will have that kind of problem to solve, it will be using a printer 3D!
Ditto for a plastic case of non-standard dimensions!
Even the front and rear with their piercings and markings (unless it takes metal for rigidity or shielding).
The labeling may be made in relief and in color!
I will not be dependent on industrialized products and lead times + machining + screen printing !!!

This is only an example applied to a craft production of small series.
For decorative items, there are certainly many, many other applications; anything that does not justify the creation of molds for the series, or for mass production before testing in order to have an accurate rendering quite the appearance of the final product; shape variations and color ...
Also the models for architects for fans of small trains ...
You can also develop your own games. Are you missing pieces for checkers, chess or small horses, do yours with thrombin President or your stepmother ...
