Will environmentalists be able to match this wonderful record?

Humanitarian catastrophes (including resource wars and conflicts), natural, climate and industrial (except nuclear or oil forum fossil and nuclear energy). Pollution of the sea and oceans.

Will environmentalists be able to match this wonderful record?

by GuyGadebois » 10/03/20, 20:49

Some people call environmentalists fascists, totalitarians, blind monsters endangering our so-called "advanced" societies (among other things, whatnot), yet if we compare certain facts, I'm not sure the monsters are on the side of the 'ecology:

• December 12, 1999: sinking of the oil tanker Erika off the French coast. 12 tonnes of heavy oil spilled.

• January 30, 2000: accidental discharge of 100 m000 of water containing cyanide into a Romanian tributary of the Tisza, destroying all aquatic life in the Hungarian course of the river

• May 13, 2000: explosion of the fireworks storage plant in Enschede (Netherlands)

• September 21, 2001: the explosion of the AZF chemical plant in Toulouse, France left 30 dead and more than 2 injured while causing significant destruction throughout the southwest of the city.
Etc., etc:

But, our advocates of science and modernity will certainly object "you can't make an omelet without breaking some eggs" ....

I just had Georges Bush Jr on the phone, he just told me that in agreement with James Deanne, he takes care of it. (Say, aren't you going to spoil my topic for me, anyway?)

Doesn't the real danger lie in this questioning: isn't environmentalism a mere avatar of technologism?

I do not know if it is an avatar of "technologism" but it is clear that ecologism is being phagocized and even instrumentalised by the companies of ordinary capitalism, whose lobbies are marching in the same direction.
The money from the forced impoverishment of populations by ecological requirements, which force them to replace so-called polluting solutions with others that are not necessarily less so, must end up in the pocket of the so-called green industry . It is for households not only ecologically, but also financially, that environmentalism is counterproductive.

As for talking only about accidents, and not about all the wealth created by the rest of the economic activity, that makes no sense in a so-called "balance sheet". It is not a balance sheet but just a prosecution.

Just facts, Tryphon, facts ... Not "projections" or "simulations", FACTS.

Selection bias, not a "balance sheet". Obviously there are industrial accidents.
To say that there are 70000 failures in the bac without saying how many have obtained it is only an assessment of the failures, not an assessment of the bac.

Yes, FACTS ... But in this case do not call "your thread" a BALANCE SHEET.
