Storm Xynthia: 10 years 2 months after Lothar

by Christophe » 28/02/10, 09:42

122 month almost day to day after Lothar:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temp%C3%AAte_Lothar

She's already dubbed storm Xynthia:

Storm Xynthia, announced as one of the most violent since that of 1999, led Sunday floods in Vendée and Charente-Maritime. Between 4 hours and 6 hours, strong winds and rain combined with strong tides led to flooding in some municipalities along the Atlantic coast. Gusts up to 130 km / h in the interior and 150 km / h on the coastline were recorded, as expected, in the four most affected departments, the prefectural authorities said.

"There are people on the roofs, we are overwhelmed," said the gendarmes in Vendée. La-Faute-sur-Mer, L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer and La-Tranche-sur-Mer were the most concerned, with water levels reaching up to 1,5 meters, the prefecture said. In Charente-Maritime, several helicopters were to be sent to retrieve residents who had climbed onto their roofs in Aytré, a town bordering La Rochelle, according to the prefecture.

storm

by zorglub » 28/02/10, 14:59

eh yes ! again !
in 99 we had to sell about a hundred trees, and tiles to
to change, the rest ...
today, ditto in a little less strong but already fifteen dead and floods and disaster victims
are the planned warning plans too weakly precise?
I think that we can do better by locally refining the risks and proposing more effective means of prevention

it gives to reflect ...... but after the tax of the prevention of the flu A H1N1 no one wants to get wet (it is the case to say it) and too bad for the dead and the victims

50 dead or more .... little storm?
could we predict?
could we do something before?
many questions that should have answers to prevent it from starting again
while waiting for the only thing I can do is offer my condolences to bereaved families
and I hope
"give for the victims "

Yes, we will probably be at least at this level of victims ...

But most (28 or 29 this evening) are due to a break in the dike (double cause: storm + high tide) in Vendée ... which is the fault of "bad luck" ...

In any case it's not trivial as a storm ...

By the way, I would like to know pkoi the Elysee talking about "national disaster" (Sarkozian expression quickly relayed by the journalists at the boot of the government ...)?

To consider this storm as a "national" is to despise the victims of other countries affected by the storm ...

It's a natural disaster ... no point! The nation has nothing to do with it ... let alone nationalism ...

We are all equal to the whims of nature ... who does not know the borders (at last, let's not forget that Sarko was one of those responsible for the lie of the cloud of Cherno ...)

The point at the beginning of the evening:

ps: economists and politicians will be happy: this storm (like all the others) will still inflate their sacro saint TAX ID No OF SHIT !!!

Indeed, it must be remembered that the GDP can not take into account in negative the destructions of material goods ... it can take into account by the destruction of human (= dead, wounded ...) but only in the case of full employment ... which is obviously not the case now ... except in the event of a major disaster for a country (as in Haiti) where the economic activity, therefore the GDP, is impacted at the national scale and for a long time but we are not there!

No, but I would have heard everything.
I listen to a radio of the Belgian public, pure fm. The turkey announces the newspaper saying: "Aaah, what a beautiful day!". The newspaper starts just after with the announcement of 50 dead in Europe (Spain, France, Belgium, Germany) since yesterday's storm.
Ok, life goes on, but a little respect and dignity damn shit!
The sun shines at the price of 50 lives today, it's not what I call a beautiful day. It's a damn sad day for me because I will often think about it today and feel guilty about being one of the many responsible.
I can not hate people but their selfish stupidity insults me.
I can only offer my sincere condolences to the victims and their families but I especially want to ask them for forgiveness.
Shame on you superficial turkey without soul of pure fm!

Are you aiming for "your" personal contribution / responsibility to the greenhouse effect / warming I presume?

You know all the weather experts in the world will tell you that this is not related to global warming and that it is the climatic hazards ... that it has always been the case and that it will always be the case ...

So, above all, do not change anything about our lifestyle behaviors ... : Evil:

Hey, though ... if you left France a little to take a step back it would seem obvious to you ... when we are on a boat we generally trust blindly to his captain ...

And the GDP will also look far? : Shock:

The balance sheet this morning is 47 dead ...

but what is "sarko" doing here?
I would like to say, knowing the problem that if the rescue plans (ppi ect) were applied, there would be much less victim and may be less damage
Too much lethargy at the level of the common carelessness of some mayors ect
I had to manage periods like this one and I know .....

The fact that I do not understand that we can replace the word natural by national in the case of a storm that has affected all Europe ... even if France has been the most affected in human bilan ...
