The use of the fourth dose of vaccine to combat this decline has also been poor.
'Israel was the first country to allow a fourth dose in early January for both medical staff and the elderly, but only half of those eligible took it, in part because early reports of its effectiveness were mixed' , Dr. Raveh said.
In fact, a fourth dose proves to be incredibly effective. Recent real-world data from Israel shows this leads to a 4,3-fold decrease in severe disease in those over 60, compared to a third dose given more than four months earlier.
"Giving the fourth dose to people who were at risk of developing severe disease helped limit the burden on hospitals in Israel during the rapid and widespread wave of Omicron," the study authors said.

We know that there are religious communities in Israel that are poorly vaccinated, such as for measles (and remember that Switzerland was a measles exporter to Israel not so long ago, leading to outbreaks in Jewish communities ultra-Orthodox).
