Dust, solid mineral particles suspended in the air, is produced in quarries continuously and at all points of the treatment: loading, crushing, screening, rolling of trucks, blasting of mines, ..., and, in time dry, sunny and / or windy, this phenomenon is accentuated.
Dust is the main source of air pollution during quarrying. They are caused by the transport and processing of materials and, in the case of massive rock quarries, by the drilling of blast holes and the felling of rock. Dust emissions have consequences on the health of quarrymen, more or less serious depending on the climatology of the sector, the topography and particle size and the nature of airborne particles (friability, dryness, chemical composition of the rock).
