UK Covid pandemic over, experts say as vaccines reduce cases by 90%
April 23th

Britain is no longer in a Covid pandemic, experts have said, due to the successful deployment of the vaccine which has reduced infection rates by 90%.

In a new real-world study on the impact of injections on the general population, experts have found that the deployment of the vaccine has a huge impact in reducing both symptomatic and asymptomatic coronavirus cases.

By taking a single dose of Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines, there is a two-thirds drop in coronavirus cases and it is 74% effective against symptomatic infection.

By taking two doses of Pfizer, there is a reduction of 70% in all cases and 90% in symptomatic cases.

The study is based on data from the National Covid Infections Survey, which is managed by the University of Oxford and the Office for National Statistics.

Sarah Walker, professor of medical statistics and epidemiology at Oxford and chief investigator of the investigation, told the Telegraph that Britain had "gone from a pandemic situation to an endemic situation".

More than 33 million Britons have received a first dose of the vaccine, and more than 10,7 million have had a second.

Thanks to the rollout of the jab, the UK's lockdown roadmap appears to be going well, with stores reopening last week and Britons are now allowed to go to the open air pub and to the gym.

Data released today by the ZOE Symptom Tracker app also confirms that cases are on the decline, with 1165 new symptomatic cases on average every day in the UK, up from 1601 a week ago.

Study director Professor Tim Spector said: “Rates are down 28% again this week and we hope we will drop below the 1 case threshold in the coming days to reach our all-time high of. last year in August.

Evidence? None, zero, nada, nothing ...

We are in a seasonal inflection of the epidemiological curve of this “flu”, and no vaccine in the world will stop the next season, because the variants which will appear there do not yet exist - AND IT HAS BEEN 50 YEARS THAT LAST - and when they are there, they will spread like wildfire, much faster than all of our industrial capacities to produce vaccines.

Unless of course we want to work obediently in a vaccine industry ... But then it's a matter of money that has absolutely nothing to do with public health anymore.

Oxford / Astrazeneca (It is the name of the vaccine. Oxford, for the university which developed the vaccine with Astrazeneca, the private laboratory) thus communicates on its resounding success. How exhilarating, how amazing, how amazing and exciting to "faith".

Well, q

When you are, like him here, an ardent ideological promoter of the atomic industry for more than 10 years, you are no longer close. :P

From the same newspaper
an immunology professor has called on Britain to be wary of a third wave after 77 cases of another potentially destructive vaccine mutation have been recorded nationwide.

Public Health England (PHE) reported that 73 cases of the B.1.617 variant, first discovered in India, were found, while four more cases were identified in Scotland.

Danny Altmann of Imperial College said that as a result, those arriving in the country from India should be subject to a hotel quarantine if the UK is to rule out variants that could delay plans to easing of the Prime Minister's lockdown.

But despite the warnings, Downing Street insisted Boris Johnson's trip to India later this month - his first major international visit since reaching a Brexit trade deal with Brussels - will continue. https://www.fr24news.com/fr/a/2021/04/l ... age-2.html

those who are in "total denial" are rather the great naive who imagine that hastily developed vaccines are the alpha and the omega to reduce COVID epidemics.

For the moment these epidemics have kinetics largely independent of all the governmental and world fuss, and the variants will play well with ALL the vaccines, even if they are effective on the N-1 variant ...
