Coronavirus: cafes organize "lockdown parties" despite common sense
A few hours before the closure of bars, restaurants, and other recreational places imposed by the federal government in an attempt to stem the epidemic of the coronavirus, some cafes are organizing "lockdown parties" to empty their barrels. An initiative that could cost the population dearly.
According to the daily De Standaard, cafe managers, anxious to empty their barrels before closing time, are trying to attract people with snacks, a beer plus a free one, etc. In Antwerp, the barbier café is organizing one of these parties. "We want to empty these barrels, because otherwise it's wasted money," explains the manager. For him, it is an act of desperation intended to grab a few pennies in an attempt to compensate, a little bit, for the losses before the closure imposed until April 3.
