Would we want to lower the numbers of positives that we would not write another text

WHO Information Notice for IVD Users 2020/05
Nucleic acid testing (NAT) technologies that use polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for detection of SARS-CoV-2
January 20 2021

with (except translation error) this absolutely magical sentence: PCR tests are a diagnostic HELP

Most PCR assays are indicated as an aid for diagnosis

To be continued but it is sure that if we decrease the number of cycles there will be much less positives and if in addition we can interpret the PCR result according to the criteria described ... it is the ducasse

And one more variant! A ! And it's Made In Germany so it should be tough! : Mrgreen:

New variant in Germany

Different variants have already been recorded: South Africa, United Kingdom, Brazil, Japan and now Germany. A total of 35 cases were discovered in Bavaria, out of the 75 new infections recorded at the hospital in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria.

Analyzes are underway in order to define the genetic mark of this new strain and to establish its identity card. The German authorities are seeking to define whether this mutation is as contagious as Covid-19 and whether it can lead to severe forms of the disease.

Why so many variants?

The British variant, detected in November, has spread across the country and is now present in more than 50 countries around the world. The second variant, which appeared in South Africa, has been detected in around 20 countries, including the United Kingdom and France. Another variant was discovered in Brazil and was transmitted to travelers to Japan. A new mutation emerged from this last variant, mainly in Japan.

Epidemiologist Antoine Flahault indicates that "in reality, the virus has mutated thousands of times since Wuhan". The more the virus is transmitted, the more it mutates. However, the Covid-19 knows less mutations compared to the "normal" flu as the epidemiology Michaël Rochoy explains: "From the start, and this was one of the rare good news, we found that this virus changed little. The constantly increasing number of variants is also due to the fact that this virus is sequenced as much as possible and that we are testing massively ”. "As soon as this variant spreads more easily, it will inevitably dominate the viral circulation" underlined Pascal Crépey, epidemiologist and teacher-researcher at the School of Advanced Studies in Public Health in Rennes.

Uh, didn't we want to boost them a few weeks ago? This crisis is driving everyone crazy !!

It may be to improve reliability, right? Lower false positives ???

Combine false positives again?

The epidemic is apparently returning to China:

Since January 13, hundreds of workers have taken turns 24 hours a day on this site located 24 km south of Beijing, in Hebei province. This large quarantine center, intended to isolate contact cases, should be ready within a few days according to the authorities.

this is the downside of the eradication strategy where you hit hard to get rid of the virus. In addition to the aspect of social acceptability, this leaves a population overwhelmingly unimmunized and therefore at the mercy of the slightest reintroduction of the virus, which is inevitable unless the country is completely barricaded.

We will never get out!

China vaccines (supposedly) since June 2020 !!

Yet they still need to do this kind of quarantine ... Do you understand what I mean?

I don't know how often they vaccinate, and I don't know how well their vaccines actually work.

It is clear that if we do not have at least 60% immunity, nothing will prevent the epidemic from starting again. And even rather 80% with the more contagious variants.

Unfortunately, I think that we will not be able to stop the epidemic quickly, especially if the vaccination coverage does not last very long and if variants appear regularly, which is far from being excluded. We will have to resign ourselves to accepting an inevitable death toll (which numbers in the hundreds of thousands in France and tens of millions around the world), and roughly the virus will become socially bearable when most of the fragile people are already dead. After that, it will become one disease among many, and probably the younger generations will be better and better immunized because they will have met it younger, at an age when they were not very susceptible.

longer extracts are available here:

https://www.laprovence.com/article/papi ... aoult.html

what is striking is that it accompanies that with rather correct sociological analyzes, but that it should have applied to itself instead of applying it to others. It is quite common for vice to wear the clothes of virtue ...

In this world that Baudrillard calls hyperreality, and which served as inspiration for the film "The Matrix", in fact, digital reality no longer has any link with physico-chemical reality, just like in the book "Simulacres "by Philip K. Dick, where politicians are dummies, holograms or robots. Thus, the total disconnection of the observable reality with the reported reality is a problem which becomes major. It is less and less an amplification, but a distortion of reality. When the informant multiplies one risk of mortality by 20 and divides another risk by 100, we are no longer in exaggeration, we are in another world. And this is currently what is happening (...)

multiplying by 20 a risk of mortality, that's exactly what he did by claiming that the lethality outside UI was 17% when we tested very little at the time ...
