A priori this is not the case with covid where, whatever its origin, animals does not seem to play a role in propagation and mutations.

That said, I don't think vaccines will make covid go away either - the only thing we're looking for is to get through the first waves while minimizing the consequences in terms of mortality and saturation of hospital services.
