In (Madagascar?) There are natives who do the opposite, it is a monkey who takes care of the infant when the parents are not there. It seems that they take care of it very "well", as if it were their own descendants. (with local criteria of course).

In fact, there is a scientist (sorry, that's a long way off) who explained many years ago that one of the first skills of a "baby" animal was to be recognized as such and to trigger a protection reflex, which could work from species to species.
It seems that a few days ago, a pack of stray dogs in Brazil had "reported" the presence of an abandoned baby, saving it from certain death. They might as well have devoured him.
