I think on the contrary that it is even more topical than in 2007 since the inequalities are only increasing!

Re: Wage gap: a (former) Great Debate
The situation, of course, but I was talking about the character ...
Since then and in another style, we have had Coluche, about which we can advantageously produce the same analysis *: that someone takes care of those left behind on account of exponential economism, this is something that cannot displease those who benefit from it since this palliative not only does not undermine causes reality, but significantly mitigating the consequences decreases the possible challenge.
It seems however, in the light of recent events, that this scam which would like to replace justice by charity is making less and less revenue.
* Without questioning his good faith, no more than that of the abbot; anyway Coluchesaw the restaurants of the heart as something temporary ...

The original idea of the restaurants of the heart goes to Daniel Balavoine .
Unofficial history wants it to be Jacques Attali which is facilitated the establishment of the restaurants of the heart under the impulse of Francois Mitterand in response to the 1983 "turn of rigor" for the reasons you stated.

Speaking of Resto du Coeur, an article from September 2018: https://www.francebleu.fr/infos/economi ... 1536641665 and if the heart restaurants and other food aid did not exist, where would we be?

Poverty barometer: one in five French people cannot eat three times a day

Food insecurity still persists in 2018. One in five French people has trouble eating (21%), including one in two of the poorest. Another alarming point: 19% of parents find it difficult to pay for the school canteen. The majority of the poorest households cannot cope with this expense (Ipsos / Secours populaire 2018).
Poor people knock on the doors of the Secours populaire français every day to request food aid as a priority. This is issued unconditionally to deal, immediately, with the threat of hunger. 1 people were helped in 826
in terms of food by SPF volunteers, all over France.

Yet politicians have been looking for solutions for a long time ...
Already in Sarkozy's time, the state bought (with money from the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation) the Fastfood Quick chain (certainly much more expensive than its real price ...).
It is true that to buy a national chain of FastFood distributed on all the French territory it was a super good idea to fight food misery : no more need for Restos du Coeur, or Secours Catholique, or other charities to feed needy French people ...
And now we discover that it was more to fill the pockets of a few speculators, billionaires and crooked politicians rather than the stomachs of hungry French people!

Re: Wage gap: a (former) Great Debate
I completely ignored this!
I had only heard about the difficulties of the group quick in France but never of a "nationalization" ????
Should we understand that any company bought / managed by the State is doomed to bankruptcy? There have been precedents ...
ps: it is not because there is bankruptcy that the shareholders lose money ... bankruptcy mainly concerns employees who lose their jobs ...

Re: Wage gap: a (former) Great Debate
Half of private sector employees earn more than 1.789 euros net per month, according to a study published this Tuesday evening by INSEE. The gap between men and women persists but narrows.
Apr 24, 2019 - LCI
It is not a revolution but the median salary is 1.789 euros for employees in the private sector. That is, half of them earn more and the other half earn less than that amount. This is revealed by the latest INSEE study on the subject, published Tuesday evening.
Statistics from this survey also show that gaps are widening between high and low wages. The 10% of the lowest paid people earn less than 1.189 euros per month. The 10% best paid receive more than 3.576 euros per month. Only 1% of employees receive more than 8.629 euros per month.
https://www.lci.fr/conso-argent/salaire ... 19277.html
In 2016, one in two French people, working in the private sector, earned more than 1789 euros net per month. According to INSEE, the average monthly salary in full-time equivalent for a person working in the private sector reached 2 euros net. It increased by 238% in constant euros (after + 0,5% in 1,1), more markedly for executives.
At the ends of the distribution, the lowest paid 10% earn less than 1 euros per month (189st decile), while the best paid 1% earn more than 10 euros (3th decile).
