Jonzac, econological city

I come back from vacation in bad weather, south of the Charente Maritime. Which allowed me to go through Jonzac, a city I did not know.
http://www.jonzac.fr/
It is an interesting city, as for its economic development, with econological tendency, thanks to the bet and the tenacity of its former mayor (although of majority ... : Mrgreen: )
He invested in a drilling at 1800m, to join a captive tablecloth that covers half of France, to bring out a water 65 °, with various thermal properties. This allowed him to create baths. Who says baths, says creation of a casino.
Contribution of tourism and various taxes, to make live the city.
It continued to invest in the same direction, creating a water pole "The West Indies", in the style of "Center Parc", heated, thanks to the geothermal energy of its unique drilling. So still tourists and animation.
Having started heavy infrastructure, for hot water pipes (1000 € the linear meter).
Deep inside, he created a "Centrale Energie de Jonzac"; it is a thermal power station.
It is a large wood-fired boiler, fueled by wood chips, from a partnership with an untreated pallet destruction plant.
With hot water, it feeds the heating of large buildings around (hospital ...), and houses, served by the pipes. A private dwelling, no longer needs to invest in money and space, in an individual heating. A counter, and a subscription, establish his bill. Half price than standard heating.
With this econological experience, a development of thermal power plants will be done, with burning of wood waste (carpentry, brushing ...), to supply heating more homes.
Visit next door, "the Energy House" which explains all this + the basics of ecology with energy savings, likely to be achieved at the individual level.
There was a solar cooker, photovoltaic panels (not very advantageous: gray energy).
Planted on the terrace, a dozen varieties of elephant grasses, including the Giganteus, that the city (or the department?) Intends to develop in the future, to feed its boilers.
They see fields, grown industrially. With maintenance and automated cutting.
The plant would consume more CO2 for its growth than it would reject while burning.
It cleanses the polluted waters. Solar drying of the cuts. It has an energy efficiency close to wood. This is the project! To be continued…

super initiative!
One thing I do not understand yet. Why not use underground hot water as a heating source? is there only for the baths? insufficient flow? Temperature too low to be broadcast in an urban circuit ???

Well, maybe it's because it's econological that we have nothing to say ...
: Cheesy:

Apart from "Bravo" I do not see what to say ... there is not much econological thing on their site ... You got all this info where?

Small flat all the same: geothermal hot spring ... must be in the right place to enjoy it ... and at the moment, the technology is limited to geologically very favorable areas ... in short it will not change big thing to the global problem of energy ...

If one day we get to drill to the plasma all over the world, it will be a new energy supply ...

Well the news, I got them by visiting the house of energy, mentioned above, where I stayed a long time. The wood boiler is of French manufacture (?).
Should follow! : Lol:
It is a single hole in a kind of spongy sandstone (?), On a layer extending over a large part of France.
It's the same tablecloth as Dax. The thermal properties are different because the waters did not cross the same grounds ...
In my opinion, you can dig anywhere, to touch the same tablecloth.
Recognized thermal properties? Bingo ==> Thermal baths ==> Casino ==> Leisure center ==> district heating.
The heat of 65 ° is only due to the depth of the borehole.
It is within reach of any commune, which desires it deeply.
With the support of the influential local politician, for authorizations and the first investment needed for drilling.
The funny thing about Jonzac is that Roman ruins have been discovered, and we think they are baths.
I do not think the Romans dug at 1800m ...
