ING Direct: 10 billion net profit in 000?

by Christophe » 30/01/09, 19:04

Seen on the ING Direct website, in 2007: 9241 billion net profit (so after tax?) : Shock:

And when we click "Learn more" we get:

Effectively 9,241 billion ca seems much more reasonable but this error is no longer an error it is a fault ... then 2 things one:

a) if it is not a fault, then if they really won close to 10 billion in 000, what are the hundreds of billions GIVEN by governments? Is this a joke?

b) if it is a fault: bankers who on their website confuse 1 and 1000, it is appalling isn't it?

It's up to Image Lamentable but true !!

Hi Toff,

you strain your heart unnecessarily at watching this : Cheesy:

Ties in silk pants have been making "zero" mistakes for a long time (in every sense of the word).

Are still showing off with billions. Ridiculous : Idea:

Yeah ... but it's still there ...
Even if it is probably only a comma error by a negligent webmaster ... but all the same ...

At my level of small webmaster, I would make this error well I would be pointed out quickly ...

Am dismayed by the mediocrity of those who believe they are the masters of the world ...

billion here, billion there,

from time to time you have to think about orders of magnitude:

if I put ONE euro on the table every SECOND, 24 hours a day, I have ONE small billion after .....

about 31 YEARS !!!!

oops i was wrong

Uh I don't know how many seconds you have in a year but I find a little over 31 years and 8 months ... to make a billion seconds.

Finally, most of us are billionaires to think about it! (me again but almost)

Still, I don't quite understand your comparison: you mean that a billion is a lot or a little?

It is a mistake, there is no possible doubt.

From there to get excited against the bankers for that, no:

1) it is the "comm" service and not the bankers that takes care of the web pages; it's advertising !!!

2) it is even very likely the result of an automatic translation of managed data into English, with confusion between the thousands separator and the comma.

I don't want to defend the bankers either. But the angle of attack, there, is insignificant ...

Yes but no ... because it is a representative index of the lack of rigor of the profession !! You will tell me there are bad apples everywhere but all the same: it is not a small error lost in a document in the background of the site, it is on their HOMEPAGE !!!

If you earn 2000 € salary and one month, just by "comma" error of a factor of 1000 you only receive € 2, what would you say?

I confirm : Idea:

at the rate of 86400 sec / day and 365,25 days / year, it takes 31,688 years to make 1 billion seconds : Cheesy:

: Mrgreen: From asking € 1 / sec ... You have to earn € 86400 / day, or € 2,6 million / month : Mrgreen:
