Swiss vote: VAT or tax on fossil energy?

by dede2002 » 07/03/15, 09:57

Hello,

http://www.tdg.ch/suisse/Fautil-remplac ... y/16417125

It's for tomorrow.

As a reminder, a comparable initiative had been refused 18 years ago.
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Initiative ... il!_%C2%BB

(the link does not pass?
in wikipedia: Popular initiative "to guarantee AVS - tax energy and not work!" ")

It will be interesting to compare the participation rate and the "refusal" rate 18 years later.

Masterful slap for the energy tax of the Green Liberals

VOTING - The Vert'libéraux initiative was refused on Sunday by the majority of the cantons. She should make a very bad score, which would border historic records.

VAT will not be replaced by an energy tax. The initiative of the Green Liberals was refused on Sunday by the majority of the cantons. She should make a very bad score, which would border historic records.

The initiative of the Green Liberals proposed "too radical a change and was unnecessarily complicated", reacted Adèle Thorens, co-president of the Greens. However, it does not regret having supported this text, which is going in the right direction. "Ecological taxation will eventually become a reality." The Vaud national councilor believes that it is entirely possible to obtain popular support for an energy tax "if the proposed system is simple and if the money is redistributed". And to recall that there is already a CO2 tax for fuel oil.

Above all, "we should not consider today's vote as a total rejection of any change," says Adèle Thorens. This is just one step. "The debate will continue and we will end up implementing ecological taxation."

Historical dimensions

The poor score of the Green Liberals' initiative has historic dimensions. The gfs.bern institute predicts support not exceeding 8%. Only the initiative for the supply of wheat to the country had done less well with 2,7% of "yes" in March 1929.

It was predictable, but at this point ...
Apparently the Swiss are afraid of change, or do they think everything is fine now?

I find that the argument was not relevant, it was written that gray energy (fossil) would be taxed, but without further explanation !!!

And so the argument of gasoline at 5 francs per liter was a hidden lie, since it was to apply the calculation to only primary energy.

The government wrote that it would be "too complicated" to calculate embodied energy ...
We have known how to go to the moon for 50 years, and it's too complicated to calculate the gray energy, when we don't want we don't want!

To follow, we will have to put the book back on the job.
