I had thought about it very hard, but not dared! Adrien est is a sufficiently serious, curious and enterprising speaker (from my point of view) to spare his desires to know without rocking a valve! This is not the case for everyone!
But hey, given the title of the thread, Fernand Raynaud seems to me a valid interlocutor!

Yes but you know that idiots dare everything. This is even what I recognize myself.
(I still find that the discussion took on an almost surreal dimension that did not deserve as much fly bugger. And then Adrien knows the beast and does not think he will take offense, especially since it is a " country")

As has been said, immersion is practiced, to my knowledge, not to evacuate the sap, but to dissolve the tannins (which are very soluble in water). It is a practice that was common when using oak slats to avoid shearing nails by oxidation ...

Without being by far a specialist, I think you are referring to the techniques of "dessevage" (see your favorite search engine), in particular by immersion.
But it has (it seems?) Only interest for lumber. especially for the lazy!
Of course, we cannot always trust current practices. But we still see very few people soaking their firewood!
This study gives some data, mainly for sawn timber. But in the background, we can glean one or two data for firewood.

I deviated on the knowledge of wood no more no less.
Just as if from the vegetable garden we started talking about ..... mycorrhizae.
Admittedly at first glance mycorrhizae may seem far-fetched but no more than trying to find out the difference between the sap and the water contained in the wood
It's just for my personal culture and knowing how wood works and behaves and its different components, especially once cut.
But I understand that it cannot interest
