Janic, in humans, we say "men" and "women" ... not male or female ... : Shock: : Shock:
Yes! This characterizes this desire to distinguish ourselves from other animals as if we were not ourselves. If we were really (sic) the descendants of apes ,: why do we say male and female concerning them and male and female for us. They mate, we get married. The big joke!

I pity your friends Jlanic!
in what? the individuals are characterized by their sex, male or female in biology, one does not say madam the fly and mister the elephant (except in the cartoons) nor the wife of the cicada and the husband of the leech.
But culturally I also use the accepted linguistic forms: My lady, my sieur, my mie, obsolete formulas : Cheesy: : Cheesy: : Cheesy: or the mef! contraction of a female in verlan!

No, girl, she's a woman, she's my girl, my wife ... not my female, eh!

The female verlan would be a Lemfe or Leumf something like that!

Don't you use "My con" to name your girlfriends? It would be your kind !! : Mrgreen:

that's why I wrote mef and not girl! (no U in the word woman!)
Etymology
From the Latin femella, diminutive of femina ("woman").

namely that female and female have the same meaning! After that it is again a question of culture and language.
